Arundhati (mythology)

Arundhati (अरुंधति) was a daughter of the Sage Patañjali and wife of the sage (rishi) Vasishtha. She is identified with the morning star and also with the star Alcor which forms a double star with Mizar in the constellation of Ursa Major. She is invoked during the marriage ceremonies of Hindus, and is a representative of an ideal wife.
