Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Warcraft character articles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I just missed the closing, but the Captain Placeholder article on WoWWiki is actually a copy of the Wikipedia article. The lyrics were added to the wikipedia article on 2005-11-23 [1] and on the wowiki article on 2006-05-21 [2]. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 10:56, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 'Useless Trainwreck'

I'd just like to know if any other AfDs have ended up as 'USELESS TRAINWRECKS FROM WHICH NO DISCUSSION CAN EMERGE,' or something similar. I find it an interesting designation, no levity intended. -Toptomcat 16:31, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Note to interested admins

Technically, withdrawing this nomination was an exercise in WP:IAR as I have neither the authority, nor the backing of WP:SK to retract nominations after several people have voted delete. However, it is clear to me that the emerging consensus was that this was a bad faith nomination on my part. It is also clear to me that the technical device of adding to the "challenge" section would eventually cover all 49 articles, defeating the entire point of a group nomination. I doubt any admin will want to put process above everything and reopen this AfD, but if they do, I request that all my comments be struck out. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 11:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I have reverted your invalid close; as you have indiated you already know, a nominator has no special rights to close an AfD once even a single other person has supported deletion, nevermind the fairly large majority supporting deletion here. --Aquillion 01:53, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
I think your reversion puts process over common sense, but whatever. Remember to add the afd banners back. I am not going to help you out. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 02:05, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
I've restored all of the AfD tags. — TKD::Talk 03:28, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
By the way, you should note that there wasn't anything close to a fairly large majority supporting deletion. The majority as of the moment I attempted to retract the nomination and as of this comment support keep or relist. Also AfD is not a vote and majorities have no meaning. Some of the delete voters obviously did not bother reading the nomination as their comments show a lack of awareness of key points raised therein, viz. the existence of List of Warcraft characters. See also the list of backlinks to this AfD, and you will observe that there has been a campaign to solicit participations from individual editors sympathetic to these articles. Such campaigns rarely lead to good AfDs. I am still very displeased that you reopened this, as it will continue its agonizing march towards a no-consensus, i.e., a collossal waste of everyone's time. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 03:51, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Individual challenges moved from article

As it appears that the community is not in favour of allowing me to withdraw the nomination as a whole, it is therefore also impossible for me to withdraw the nomination for individual articles. Therefore, the intent of this section is manifestly invalid. It has been moved here from the main article.

This whole nomination is bad faith, and it should be strikken. I have asked the admin why he re-opened it. I will also look into getting it deleted all together. Havok (T/C/c) 14:37, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
If you continue to hold that there was bad faith here, you should bring it up before RfC or the ArbCom. Also note that the person who reverted my close isn't a sysop. If you want to get this AfD unlisted, I think it is imperative that you look into getting me banned in some fashion, as it is obvious then that I have a motive to damage Wikipedia. Kaustuv Chaudhuri 23:06, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

All comments below this line should be for challenges to the nomination as apply to specific articles.

Comment to nominator Have you even read the articles you have nominated? Because if you did, you would understand from what is written about these characters, who is major and who is minor etc. Havok (T/C/c) 10:45, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
