Before making a judgement on this subject, I would like to suggest that people do the research and decide for themselves. Secondarily, I would also suggest that in order for someone to be taken seriously they should be able to spell simple words.
- Hi, just for clarification there is some jargon being used. For example "nom" is an abbreviation for "nomination". Also "advertorial" is a combination of "advert" and "editorial". Personally, if someone includes an extra 's' in registry, for example, I don't consider that to be very significant. Addhoc 13:32, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
The origin of this breed has been well documented for over 25 years. As Headphono stated, it won't take much research to verify this. Google would be a reasonable source. But, if you go to the O.E.B.K.C. website, the American Rare Breed Associations website, or several others, one will easily come to the conclusion that the breed began development in the early seventies. There are several registries out there that claim to register Olde English Bulldogges, however the bloodlines of the dogs they register are simply Bulldog Outcrosses or in other words Hybrid Bulldogs. In fact, the Olde English Bulldogge Kennel Club is currently working closely with the AKC's Foundation Stock System and the United Kennel Club to acheive recognition by both Kennel Clubs. Another dated source for the breeds origin are two writings by Carl Semencic, "The World of Fighting Dogs" and "Gladiator Dog". There are many people out there today trying to discredit the Olde English Bulldogge simply to undermine the efforts of the O.E.B.K.C. in trying to unify the breed and it's existing ethical breeders. The OEBKC's success in getting the breeds bloodlines recognized by a national breed club would do significant damage to the puppy sales of unethical breeders that are breeding Hybrid Bulldogs and calling them Olde English Bulldogges. This is not a type of dog, it is an actual breed whose name has been used for several years now by MANY unethical bulldog breeders to sell their puppies. I personally have done a great deal of research on this breed long before I became Preident of the Olde English Bulldogge Kennel Club. The OEBKC has the documentation of the breeds original bloodlines that I would be happy to present in a Court of Law if the opportunity ever arose. Thank you for reading, Leo Paulding
- Hi Leo and thanks for your comments. I would advise that my guess is the article is going to survive this nomination with a "no consensus" result. From there, if more reliable sources are found the article would probably continue to be improved. Otherwise, I would guess that it would end up being merged into Bulldog. Personally, I don't think all mention of this breed is going to removed what ever happens. Addhoc 13:57, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Addhoc, I guess it looks like I will have to break some of my referance material and add it to the article. The *Olde English Bulldogge Kennel Club is working diligently to preserve the TRUE bloodlines of the breed so losing the page on Wikipedia could hurt us in this venture. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Don Pelon 03:37, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
