Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Metropolis (Japanese magazine)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • The discussion on whether to delete the Metropolis Magazine article did not focus around whether it was "blatant" advertising or not. One would think that if the author of the article was in fact the owner of the magazine this would be considered very "blatant" advertising, but the discussion never came around to this. • The creator of the Metropolis entry tries to liken the magazine to The Village Voice. Not only is this a bad joke, but it distracts moderators from what the magazine is really like, and that is as an entertainment guide to bars and restaurants. It is similar to the Compass Magazine in Taichung, Taiwan which was the newsletter for the American Chamber of Commerce in Taichung.

What Metropolis is not is a serious news magazine. With the publication of an anti-union article by an anonymous author in a disguised photograph, one sees that Metropolis is not motivated to further human rights and migrant worker rights in the expat community.

There are English publications in Japan that are known to promote rights, but Metropolis is not one of them.
