Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Mendel Shapiro

Shira- This is a response to the discussion on the deletion page. Tradition only devoted an article to shapiro so as to disprove his analysis. Rothstein concludes that shapiro's analysis "has not meaningfuly suceeded". R. Henkin similarly writes that services that follow Shapiro's ideas are "not orthodox". I don't think any of this merits deletion of the article though. shapiro is still notable as someone who's had an effect on the jewish world, just like eric yoffie or matisyahu or joe lieberman etc., even though hes not notable as a prominent rabbi per se. Though I would agree with Izak that shapiro has zero stature in the halakhic universe, and also that his ideas are not deemed acceptable by any major orthodox organizations, institutions, synagogues, or (most importantly) poskim.
