Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Daka

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page has been deleted speedily as a hoax. However, according to the criteria for speedy deletion, this page should not have been deleted quite yet. A quote from this page: "No meaningful content or history, text unsalvageably incoherent (e.g., random characters). This does not include: copyvios, bad writing, partisan screeds, religious excogitations, immature material, flame bait, obscene remarks, vandalism (which is speediable under CSD G3), badly translated material, hoaxes, or fancruft, unless the material is actually unsalvagably incoherent."

I would have appreciated a chance to correct the page, removing any notion that the Umbrella Corporation is real. I would have also appreciated the chance to expand upon the page and have others expand upon it as well. Unfortunately, this could not be done because the page was deleted in 5 minutes because it was considered a hoax. Maybe this page does not deserve to be an article on Wikipedia, but that should have been decided after the standard 5 day period.

One reason for deletion was the support of this page by only "sockpuppets." I will not apologize for creating my account the same day as this article, because i made it for this article. Not every supporter created his account this day, however. Even so, I cannot see how this page was supposed to attract any real support if it was given only 5 minutes of time. This is (I assume) the reason that articles are given 5 days before they are voted upon. This is all I ask for the Daka article.

1) This page was definitely not a hoax.

2) Even if the phrasing of the article made it appear to be a hoax, that is no reason (according to Wikipedia policy) to have it speedily deleted.

3) Lack of proper support is no reason to delete an article if the article is deleted before support can be given.
