I think people have been mistaken. I have heard this term used many times with the same meaning. I suspect that the reason google could not find anything on the subject is purely because there is very little known about the condition, and we are largely secretive about it.

Dr Mauvius is our guiding light through the deep dark tunnel,blowing his little silver whistle and sending us on our way, a pioneer in the research and treatment of this somewhat odd condition.

Dr Mauvius's description is slightly flawed however, myself and my friends have suffered the condition for such a long time, that many moons ago we lacked the strength to be able to regain our human form, our faces were all that was retrievable, so some Aeolipilanthropes take engine form permantly night or day.
