The result of the debate was no consensus bean counting might suggest otherwise, but remember that AfD is a discussion, not a vote... 2 strong arguments to keep verse several "per nom"s to delete. W.marsh 13:22, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association
Delete Article is almost entirely a description of various types of debate which already exists at Debate. Besides that, the article makes no claim to notability at all and gets a grand total of 37 Google hits pm_shef 00:05, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Delete per nom as wholly non-notable (except for info already covered in better articles). -- Kicking222 00:26, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

- Be it resolved that we delete this article. I argue on the affirmative side of that issue. —C.Fred (talk) 02:51, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Delete. The problem is less with the Association, which has some reasonable notability, but with the info, which is just a list of standard material. The author needs to give info specifically on the WFCA if this article is going to avoid being deleted.Weak Keep. After looking at the series of AfD request for these debating socieites, I have to change my opinion. Debating societies are an important part of high school life comparable to sports and spelling bees. These articles are not just vanity pages for local high schools but are generally well-ogranized collaborative efforts to describe the functioning of debating societies in large US states (California, Texas, Ohio, etc.). They might not seem too notable to a 45-year-old guy in Chicago (me!) but there are other standards of notability that they meet. Some need more work than others, but this one for Texas is pretty well advanced. Interlingua talk 03:18, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

- CommentI agree that debating is important, but this page (wisconsin, not texas) is simply the same information that already exists on Debate. It has little unique content and doesn't meet the crucial test of claiming notability.
- Keep Yes, it needs expansion, but so do a lot of stubs. State forensic leagues are not mere chapters. They have hundreds of events each year, thousands of participants and are the main way in which NFL members gain experience. It is like saying we should not have a New York Mets page, since we have one for Major League Baseball. In addition, state leagues sponsor different events than the NFL does. These would be lost if there were not state level pages. In addition, there is more to this page already than there is for most of the High School pages in Wikipedia. Sure, the page needs work, but a lot of our pages do. See also the discussions at Talk:National Forensic League, where active encouragement has been given to developing State league pages. --CTSWyneken 13:15, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
