[edit] The Ivy Club
Thoroughly unnotable. And misnamed. Smoddy | Talk 18:04, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Delete not notable, and I'd have to be pretty hungry before I'd eat Princeton. Starblind 18:18, Jan 12, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete not-notable (especially as the least prestigious), but I could go for some Princeton right now. --Deathphoenix 19:22, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Comment: Unsure. Mentioned in Eating clubs (Princeton University). I'll have a go at making it a good stub, but that doesn't imply any vote at this stage. Andrewa 20:13, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I don't think that there's much information out there to make it less than a permanent stub. If you live in the Princeton, NJ area, there may be some things on deposit at Mudd Library (or old, out-of-print books on the clubs at Firestone). Hence my inclination to say that we should just merge and redirect into Eating Clubs.
- Delete, no evidence of notability. Wyss 22:51, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Redirect into Eating Clubs (Princeton University). Ivy was the first eating club at Princeton in the mold of the modern clubs (sporadic eating associations existed in the late 19th century beforehand, but Ivy was the first permanent club). However, I doubt that there's enough citeable material for this to merit its own article. See http://etc.princeton.edu/CampusWWW/Companion/eating_clubs.html . Notable alums include Booth Tarkington.
- Keep, seems notable to me from this distance. But either way the above material should be incorporated, either into the stub I've now created or into eating clubs (Princeton University). The original article was a prank, see the talk page. Andrewa 04:25, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- The original original article was a copyvio cut'n'pasted from the club's website (no longer up; visible here: http://web.archive.org/web/20030621122418/www.ivyclub.princeton.edu/history.htm)jdb ❋ 05:46, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Comment: Thank you for that link, which I'll incorporate into the article. What I meant by original was of course the first non-deleted version, which is what was nominated for deletion here. The copyvio was deleted some time ago, and AFAIK there is no move to undelete it. No change of vote. Andrewa 09:39, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
