[edit] Ohio High School Speech League
Delete NN Organization with less than 150 Google hits. Only claim to notability is being associated with the National Forensics League, and community consensus has many times in the past agreed that regional or local branches of a notable organization are not notable simply by association. No claim to notability pm_shef 23:57, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

- Delete per nom. This article is better than its kin in that it is not weighed down with lists of winners and tournament qualifying point allocation tables. However, it also shows how little substance there is to the article. —C.Fred (talk) 02:48, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- 'Weak keep. This is more weakly written than the similar article on the Texas Forensic Association but as per my comments there and for the Wisconsin group, I'm going to stick my neck out and say we should keep these. They have real notability in the lives of thousands of high school students in each of these states although this might not be immediately visible in Google hits. The article on Texas, in particular, has benefited from a lot of input over nearly four months. I think these others will also improve. QUESTION: is my reasoning totally wrong here? I ask since I'm a newbie on AfD discussions. Interlingua talk 03:38, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

- Comment Your reasoning is good, but in this case, the question is more whether the State level organisations are notable independantly of the National Organisation (NFL). My argument is that they are not. I absolutely agree that the National Forensics League is notable, but as per many past decisions, I don't feel that regional divisions of a national organisation are notable enough for an article unless they can establish that notability on their own - which this article, and the others, don't do - pm_shef 03:40, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Keep Yes, it's still a stub, but state forensic leagues are not mere chapters. They have hundreds of events each year, thousands of participants and are the main way in which NFL members gain experience. It is like saying we should not have a New York Mets page, since we have one for Major League Baseball. In addition, state leagues sponsor different events than the NFL does. These would be lost if there were not state level pages. In addition, there is more to this page already than there is for most of the High School pages in Wikipedia. Sure, the page needs work, but a lot of our pages do. See also the discussions at Talk:National Forensic League, where active encouragement has been given to developing State league pages. --CTSWyneken
