[edit] Lowest man essay

Lowest man essay (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) – (View AfD)

This is an original research essay. No sources, but it can never be an encyclopedic article. Article's creator is new and may not understand that essays are not appropriate entries for Wikipedia. OfficeGirl 03:08, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

This is not an essay it is a commentary on an essay written by mark twain. the sources are listed at the bottom of the article. This is fact and an analyzation of literature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ejhockeyman (talkcontribs) 03:15, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Cleanup and rename "The Lowest Animal" (somebody already did that). Ejhockeyman, please read WP:OR. The original research should be deleted, but Twain's essay is notable enough for an article. Clarityfiend 03:25, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Comment (EDIT CONFLICT)Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. An article about the essay might be acceptable (if it was found notable enough. . .?) but commentary is not because that is not an encyclopedia article. Even if this article is deleted we may still want a NPOV article on the subject. --Banana 03:26, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Also can anything from the essay be merged into an article or should we just delete and start over? --Banana 03:27, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Comment. It is an essay. It's an essay about an essay. As the creator states, this is "an analyzation of literature", so it's original research. Removing the OR is easy, and anything by Twain is inherently notable. I'm surprised this essay isn't even mentioned in Twain's article or his bibliography. Crazysuit 03:51, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
    • The author has blanked the page, so I have tagged it as such. There would be little left if the OR was removed, so deletion may be the best thing and it can be recreated if anyone wants to write a sourced article in future.Crazysuit 04:07, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Speedy Delete as a redirect that leads no where. (As of this edit)--Alasdair 08:33, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
