The result was wrong forum. WP:AfD is for discussing the deletion of articles. To propose the merger of an article, as here, please use the {{mergeto}} template; see WP:MERGE. Or, in this case, just perform the merger, as consensus below seems to favour it. Sandstein (talk) 21:03, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Kosovo (UNMIK)
The initial PROD on this article has been contested, so I am bringing this to AfD. This article appears to me to suffer two problems:
- It implies that Kosovo under UN protection was somehow some kind of 'United Nations State', which is not true. Although the UN resolution introduced an interim administration, this does not de facto imply any implications for statehood.
- If this article is not suggesting that Kosovo under UN control, then the content of this article should be merged as necessary with the existing article Kosovo since it simply describes a change of government. The logical extension would be to have new articles for the United Kingdom every time there is a change of government, or new articles for Italy every time they have changed their electoral system.
In either event, I suggest that this article is deleted, and its content merged with Kosovo as necessary Fritzpoll (talk) 23:05, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Merge per nom - Fritzpoll (talk) 15:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Merge - to Kosovo --Cradel 23:31, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Merge to Kosovo. Kosovo is still under UN administration (Ban Ki-moon said so today) and will continue so until the EU takes charge. ☆ CieloEstrellado 01:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Merge this seems better suited to be part of the Kosovo article. I'm afraid that it does not seem to warrent its own article. Dlohcierekim Deleted? 03:03, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - that period deserves its own article. See example East Timor (transition)--TheFEARgod (Ч) 09:41, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Merge - transition is completely over. Independence was declared. Kosovo is a Republic recognized by western powers. This portion should be transferred to (merged with) Kosovo--Arber
- Keep - the significant sanction is not the declaration of independence, but its recognition. (Regarding the emergence of parallell constitutional theories, cf. the United Kingdom and independence of the Republic of Ireland.) -- Domino theory (talk) 17:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - It doesn't matter what the article "suggests" or anything else, what matters is that the article documents a period of Kosovo history and should be retained. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 18:06, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Merge. Regardless of the how-we-describe-Kosovo argument, the subject of this article (ie the governance of Kosovo between 1999 and the Declaration of Independence) can be adequately (and more usefully) discussed as part of the Kosovo article. Cynical (talk) 19:03, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
