[edit] Kael'thas Sunstrider
Cut-and-pasted from http://www.wowwiki.com/Kael'thas_Sunstrider. Not copyvio, nor CSD A2, verifiable fictional character, yet I feel there ought to be some excuse to toss this. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 01:30, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Speedy keep. Nominator offers no valid reason to delete. Don't we have enough problem handing a 150 AfD nominations a day without adding articles because "there ought to be some excuse" to delete it?--Prosfilaes 01:41, 2 December 2005 (UTC)- Well, there's always the excuse that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. More to the point, I don't believe Wikipedia ought to contain the sum of all GDFL Wikis on the net. This is already a perfectly good article at WoWWiki. Why should it be cut-and-pasted here? —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 02:29, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- As you said, it's a verifiable fictional character, like many others in Wikipedia. Wikipedia should be the sum of parts of the GFDL Wikis that is generally encyclopedic according to the standards of Wikipedia. More importantly, deletion provokes some of the most violent arguments among people who would contribute to Wikipedia. People already complain of deletion vandalism. The last thing we need is to start deleting things that there is no policy against, just because someone thought it should be deleted. --Prosfilaes 06:32, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

- keep please prosfilaes is probably right too Yuckfoo 01:50, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete article is completely unencyclopedic...appears to be possible copyvio and has relevance to nothing that I can tell.--MONGO 06:22, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Everything is possibly a copyvio. Look first, though. It's copied from a GFDL website, as mentioned above, so there should be no problem. It's not the best article in the world, but just because you can't tell the relevance doesn't mean there isn't any. It's a character in video game.--Prosfilaes 06:32, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete or send to copyvio--text also appears here[1] and here[2] both of which specifically claim copyrights, and don't claim WoWWiki as a source. 24.17.48.241 07:03, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete this garbage. This is not an encyclopaedia article, but non-notable fiction with no context and no critical treatment whatsoever. u p p l a n d 07:42, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete, badly-worded nomination or not. Uppland said it all; this isn't an encyclopaedia article about a fictional character, this is just fiction. --Last Malthusian 10:04, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete as crossing well over the dividing line between encyclopaedia entries and fan fiction. Doesn't even provide enough information to [WP:V]] what is there, we can guess which fictional universe this comes from but it doesn't tell us. - Just zis Guy, you know? - Merge into Prince Kael'thas and redirect. This is about a (verifiable) fictional character for whom a page (Prince Kael'thas) already exists. I agree that Kael'thas Sunstrider is pretty much unusable, but there might be info in there worth salvaging for the existing page. (If not, replace with a redirect.) --Sommers 14:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Merge per Sommers, and concur with Prosfilaes - please try to find a valid reason before listing for deletion. KillerChihuahua 14:39, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Comment: Perhaps I did overreact in nominating this. I was doing Newpages patrol when I noticed that someone seemed to be systematically cut-and-pasting articles from WoWWiki. While there doesn't seem to be any specific rule (except various opinions on what constitutes an encyclopedic article) against merging the entire WoWWiki into Wikipedia, I felt (and still feel) that doing so would be counterproductive. That said, after reading the comments above, I'd certainly support a redirect to Prince Kael'thas in this case, possibly after deletion if 24.17.48.241's copyvio claim is valid. We already have a well-written article on this character, so redirecting sidesteps the entire issue neatly. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 18:36, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Merge to Prince Kael'thas. Verifiable, notable. Punkmorten 22:39, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Merge. Since there is already a page, and this one is rather low quality. I overreacted a little, too, but I think my first comments still stand.--Prosfilaes 23:07, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Merge and redirect to Prince Kael'thas. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 04:00, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Egads, this is ridiculous! --Agamemnon2 08:52, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
- DeleteI keep running into these things and they do not give a clue what they are referring to...get rid of of it.--MONGO 03:28, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
- delete gamecruft (spoiler alert for a game character?!) Pete.Hurd 07:59, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
- Why not have a spoiler alert for a game character? There's more original plot in the game this character came from than many movies.--Prosfilaes 08:35, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
