[edit] Juan Miranda
Non-notable minor league baseball player, has never played in the major leagues, fails WP:BASEBALL. Corvus cornix 18:32, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Note: This debate has been included in the list of baseball-related deletions. —Truest blue 16:26, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Keep. He is in a big team and i dont belive they paud for him 2 million $ without a reason. Give him time, and so about the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by M.V.E.i. (talk • contribs) 18:40, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
- Speedy Keep per WP:BIO "Competitors who have played in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming or tennis." WP:BASEBALL is not a Wikipedia policy. Smashville 19:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Keep, meets WP:BIO standard of having played in a fully professional league. Kinston eagle 19:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Not a triple A player (which I consider "fully proffesional"), fails WP:N so Delete and WP:BASEBALL is not policy (I removed that section until it's discussed better on the proposed athletes page). Jaranda wat's sup 19:50, 29 August 2007 (UTC)- Keep all players in Double-A are paid, therefore it is fully professional, therefore he passes WP:BIO. - Same with semi-proffesional players, they are paid, samw wih teachers, lawyers, etc, getting paid isn't a reason for keeping an article. Jaranda wat's sup 19:57, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- It is when the policy states that it is. WP:BIO says, as I mentioned above, "Competitors who have played in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming or tennis." Minor league baseball is a fully professional, not a semi-professional system. It's not a matter for interpretation, it's a known fact. Smashville 20:00, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

- Strong keep, double-A is professional enough for WP:BIO. Ten Pound Hammer • (Broken clamshells•Otter chirps•Review?) 20:33, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Keep Seems to be lots of media coverage of his status as a "cuban defector".. Article needs to be polished up a bit though. Spanneraol 20:36, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Delete I have never seen anything that any player who hit AA baseball is instantly notable. A lot of this also fails WP:CRYSTAL Dannycali 22:09, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Although I understand about people considering the article a breaker of the Crystalball and WP:BIO, I believe that the article fits WP:Bio fine. TheInfinityZero 22:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Note I am making a proposal for sports notabilty at User:Jaranda/Notabilty (sports). Right now it's a very rough draft but it will include atheletes, seasons, games, etc. Jaranda wat's sup 22:29, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Jaranda, I noticed that the hockey guidelines you posted allow for the inclusion of minor league all-stars. Spanneraol 00:25, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't write it though, copied from their guidelines, also first-team all-star means started on the all-star team which is like 6-7 players in a team. I'm writing the baseball one, but open for discussion on it of course Jaranda wat's sup 00:52, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Delete, non-notable minor league player who has not played any professional baseball. I've seen plenty of articles (and AFDs) on AA players and found no evidence that all AA minor leaguers are inherently notable. --Coredesat 21:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)- Keep. I don't think his limited minor-league service gives him notability, but he was on the Cuban national team. --Fabrictramp 21:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
