[edit] Jim McMahon (politician)
This article is about a local councillor, which in my opinion is non-notable. The most that can be gathered from reliable secondary sources is their name, which ward they represent, and what (if any) their role is within Oldham council. On top of this, the article is completely lacking in sources. Nev1 (talk) 20:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I am also nominating the following related pages for the same reasons as the above article:
- Aileen Bell (politician) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
- Barbara Dawson (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
- Peter Dean (politician) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)
- Delete per nom. Fails WP:POLITICIAN. The articles were all created about 18 months ago by Sadmike007 (talk · contribs) who seems to be associated with Mcyssjm2 (talk · contribs) via the often linkspammed website http://www.failsworth.info (both claim it to be 'my' site'). Jim McMahon (politician) is given as the editor of that website (see this version). Hence, there is also a possible WP:COI. Mr Stephen (talk) 21:47, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Whilst I accept that the majority of politicians are not of interest to the wider public I would say that leaders of councils/opposition leaders are of interest in most cases and would attract views from that of a ward councillor. This, of course is a always down to personal view. The lack of sources is simply a training issue than anything else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.188.90 (talk) 22:02, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- None of the councillors mentioned here are council leaders (some are leaders of departments in the council) or opposition leaders. I think that the examples you gave fail WP:POLITICIAN anyway, but they do not apply here and the councillors in question are less notable than say a council leader. I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean by "training issue", do you mean that there are reliable printed or online sources available but that because an inexperienced editor wrote the article they aren't given?
- And I assume you want to keep the articles in question? Nev1 (talk) 23:36, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Delete. Notability has not been established for any of these apparently minor local politicians from Failsworth. There is perhaps a case to be made for Peter Dean, as a former mayor of Oldham, but the article signally fails to make it. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 22:52, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Clearly a matter of opinion/value... no doubt will be deleted and the world a better place for it.... I'm sure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.188.90 (talk) 21:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
