[edit] Jared Moskowitz
questionable or insufficient notability - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 16:50, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
He is an elected official in Florida. A prominant Florida democrat in which Wiki has a category for. (Jbulls2345 (talk) 17:00, 18 April 2008 (UTC)). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jbulls2345 (talk • contribs) 16:57, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Politicians under which I would say he just misses out, unless we get some significant press coverage. ninety:one 17:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep. Plenty of coverage in WP:RS, [1], including Miami Herald, FOX News, Florida Sun Sentinel, Sarasota Herald Tribune, St. Petersburg Times, New York Sun, NBC, Spokesman Review, etc. MrPrada (talk) 18:37, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

- keep: person is highly notable and should remain. Dwilso 18:51, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- keep: Youngest elected in South Florida- article available in Sun Sentinel archives. He authored a new environmental initiative program. AP did a national story on it, in which he was praised by professors at Berkeley as one of a kind. Articles on the program in Washington post, Boston Globe, USA Today, Yahoo News, Chicago Tribune. Bill clinton also read a speech that this person wrote on the campaign trial. It is available on cspan and you tube. Highly notable (Jbulls2345 (talk) 19:23, 18 April 2008 (UTC)).
- Keep per above.--Berig (talk) 20:39, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

- Weak delete - Just not a big enough frog yet. We keep seeing assertions of press coverage, but no references to reliable sources (YouTube and such don't count). A passing mention by another politician does not constitute significant coverage, either. Haven't you ever heard the way locals are stroked by a visiting dignitary? And delegates to the DNC or RNC are not inherently notable, or I'd have my own article (Dean, DNC '04). --Orange Mike | Talk 21:33, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

To wit: Parkland turned down a county grant of more than half a million dollars for a public pool a few years ago, partly because outsiders would have been able to swim there. Most of the city's exclusive residential developments are surrounded by walls and gates. But privacy be damned, the citywide mayoral race has become one of the most talked-about contests on the March 14 ballot across the county" Miami Herald

State Road 7 is currently the only major north-south artery in western Broward County that crosses into Palm Beach County. But Parkland officials vehemently oppose that plan. - It goes on and on. There are numerous mentions in verified, reliable second and third party sources, most more then tangential or passing references to being a delegate. More than meets BLP guidelines for notability, and references more then some bio stubs. This borders on speedy close. MrPrada (talk) 21:45, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

"A politician who has received "significant press coverage" has been written about, in depth, independently in multiple news feature articles, by journalists." I'm not sure that any of the above stuff qualifies; the NY Sun item, for instance, is just a half-paragraph mention in passing. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:49, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Right, you only selected one of the list. As I noted, most of them are more than tangential or passing references. Obviously this politician is notable, its just a question now of whether is can be verified with reliable sources. Clearly it can, so, easy keep. MrPrada (talk) 23:21, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete - references used in article aren't enough. After three pages of google hits to junk refs I gave it a fair shot. BLPs need good solid refs. Professor marginalia (talk) 00:28, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
*Keep- This person seems to have plenty of third party coverage based on the newspaper articles.Insearchofintelligentlife (talk) 02:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete Elected to vice-mayor of a town of 13,000 people. -- this is not notability. I'm generous about elected officials, but this does not make sense to me. DGG (talk) 03:21, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

- Normally I might agree with you, but here we have a pol who is a) "Youngest ever", that counts a bit in my mind, B) very close to one of the largest major metropolitan areas in the U.S., constituent population aside, and C) covered by numerous third-party sources for various reasons, which meets the BLP guideline. MrPrada (talk) 08:13, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- keep Town has 23,000 residents, he is very notable. Broward county is one of the largest democratic counties in the country. He is more notable then your run of the mill state legislature, who appears all over wiki (71.196.58.53 (talk) 13:51, 19 April 2008 (UTC))
- Delete per DGG. Stifle (talk) 14:25, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

*Keep Per above.Divinediscourse ([[User talk:Divinediscourse|talk]]) 19:31, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete. Not even close to notable yet. Vice-mayor of a town of 23,000 is is way below the bar. In time there may be an encyclopedia article to write about him if he climbs the political ladder. Quale (talk) 00:10, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- keep Size of the town irrelevant if he has received significant press coverage as per above, if we want to delete we should go through this entire category as there are many politicians on wiki who have received far less coverage. (Jbulls2345 (talk) 21:28, 20 April 2008 (UTC)) Jbulls2345 has already !voted above. --Eastmain (talk) 16:25, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

- Keep. The references seem sufficient, even though the town is relatively small. A lack of automatic notability is not the same as a lack of notability. --Eastmain (talk) 16:25, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Celar Delete per precedent. We have a well-established threshold for notability for politicians and vice-mayor of a minor town does not cut it. The closing admin should take note of this precedent in assessing arguments, since quite a few keep votes seem unaware of our practice in this regard and the press coverage is unimpressive in its context. Eusebeus (talk) 18:52, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Comment The sources all seem to be trivial mentions of the subject. Replace his name with "the mayor" and see what a difference it makes. Where are the articles about him, rather than the articles which mention him? Where are the headlines with his name on? Trivial mentions don't satisfy our verifiability requirement. SHEFFIELDSTEELTALK 19:27, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Weak Keep Low on the threshhold, but the article makes distinct claims of notability for its subject and provides reliable and verifiable sources to satisfy the [{Wikipedia:Notability]] standard. Alansohn (talk) 19:32, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete - vice-mayors are not notable. Plus, the references provided in the article do not establish notability outside of the local area. BWH76 (talk) 15:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete. Almost all of the 'references' provided are not articles about him, but simply mention him in passing. There's very little significant coverage of the man himself from reliable sources - insufficient for a Wikipedia biography - and judging from the details provided in this article, he doesn't seem particularly notable. Terraxos (talk) 23:34, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete. Fails WP:BIO as being a commissioner of a city of about 22,000 people does not rise high enough on the notability scale. Neither does being vice mayor of that city, and being the current "youngest elected official" of a region is transitory at best. There are problems with WP:RS as there is only one mention of an independent source (USA Today) with only a nominal mention of him. B.Wind (talk) 03:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
