[edit] Drax (Doctor Who)

Article recently deleted and redirected to The Armageddon Factor without prior discussion. I have no strong personal opinion on keeping or deleting or merging the article, but I felt it appropriate it open it up for a wider discussion. If I do have an opinion, I feel from looking at other articles within Category:Time Lords that this one has perhaps an equal potential to grow, or perhaps a larger article be created out of all the minor Time Lord characters. - Redirect to The Armageddon Factor. There isn't much to say about the character that can't easily be contained in his main (and only) television appearance. Drax's book appearances are scant, and the material on that can be contained in the relevant novel/merchandise articles; the character suffers from little real world coverage and there isn't even a whisper of a hint that he'll be resurrected for the current television and book series. As such, a separate article represents an unnecessary content fork which can only serve to duplicate material which properly belongs elsewhere. Like Castellan Kelner, Drax (Doctor Who) could most profitably be used as a redirect. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 11:15, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Comment I'd also like to add that Time Lord pretty much covers the "List of Time Lords"-style article which we dealt with in a different afd, either linking to articles of more substantial characters or to other articles which contain notes on relatively minor characters — either the relevant story articles or one of the many lists we already have (cf. List of Doctor Who villains, List of Doctor Who henchmen, List_of_Doctor_Who_characters). --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 11:25, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Delete as non-notable per WP:Fiction. Despite having a loyal fanbase, notability critera should still adhered to when articles are created. --Gavin Collins 11:48, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Delete Just a one-episode character. Also added Drax (Time Lord) which is an left-over from the move to Drax (Doctor Who). — Edokter • Talk • 12:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Delete or Redirect to Partial list of Time Lords. Information about the charachter and story could be placed there. StuartDD ( t • c ) 13:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Redirect to The Armageddon Factor. Redirects are cheap, and it will discourage anyone else from recreating the article. Generally, there is no good reason to nominate a redirect page for ddeletion. —gorgan_almighty 13:36, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ooops! My bad. I forgot to restore the text when nominating for deletion. I have done that now. I hope people have been looking at the history, and not !voting on a simple redirect! SilkTork *** SilkyTalk 07:25, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- Delete per lack of coverage from reliable, independent sources Corpx 15:22, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Redirect to The Armageddon Factor. It's not inconceivable that someone could look up this character, and a redirect would be useful at the disambiguation page Drax per WP:MOSDAB, which says "This guidance to avoid piping means that a link to a redirect term will sometimes be preferred to a direct link, if the redirect term contains the disambiguation title and the redirect target does not." —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 15:00, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
