[edit] Brian Sakic
Player WP:HOCKEY notability requirements for hockey players. Has played less than one full season and only 51 games in a high level minor league. Most of his experience comes from extremely low minor/semi-pro hockey. His only real claim to notability is being the brother of Joe Sakic which is not good enough. - KEEP professional hockey players pass WP:BIO ccwaters 19:13, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Comment But there is much debate about how far fully professional stretches. Alot of these leagues are not fully pro. The link above shows the hockey projects stance on it. In that they have to play 5 years or 100 games in a high level minor league like the AHL or ECHL. Or have won pre-eminent honours in a low level league like this player has played in. --Djsasso 19:14, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think there's any debate as to whether the CHL, or CoHL/UHL/IHL are professional or not ccwaters 19:19, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- No but there is debate on whether the leagues are high enough for a player to be notible enough to be in wikipedia. This is no different than the lower level of soccer and baseball which is not considered high enough to be included on wiki. --Djsasso 19:21, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

- Keep. He has played seven full seasons of professional hockey. ECHL, CoHL, Western Professional Hockey League, and UHL are all professional leagues. With this, this information is easily verifiable. -- JamesTeterenko 19:19, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Strong keep, was a prolific scorer in junior AND a first round draft pick in the NHL. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 19:49, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Comment Umm he was a 5th round draft pick. --Djsasso 19:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Correction oops sorry, I combined Joe with Brian to make this guy a 15th overall pick for the Washington Capitals. My Wiki-brain has been ticking oddly recently. Strong Keep withdrawn.
- Comment Umm he was a 5th round draft pick. --Djsasso 19:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Delete. His only claim to fame? Joe's little brother. GoodDay 21:25, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Comment. If fame is your criteria for inclusion in an encyclopedia, how do you measure it? I would think that most of the people born in the 18th century are even less famous than Brian Sakic. Have you ever heard of Chief Blackbird or Bolek? Do you think they have more fame? -- JamesTeterenko 22:29, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Comment. I hadn't heard of Brian Sakic either ('til this Afd); I never noticed him (weren't notable). GoodDay 14:35, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

- Keep one season in the majors is more than enough to be Notable. Passes WP:BIO. Bearian 20:49, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, but he even played one game in the NHL. Much less a season. Smashville 06:31, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Comment: I was going to say Merge with Joe Sakic however, he did win the 1989 Memorial Cup, in overtime in the first all-WHL final in the first Swift Current Bronco Memorial Cup win. I don't know if every member of a Cup-winning team is notable but it's something to consider. Canuckle 19:04, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Comment Okay, ummm.... how is being the WHL's all-time point leader with 591, not notable? Don't believe me? See this Only Patrick Lefebvre stands above him in the whole CHL! Definitely worth keeping. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 22:02, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Keep Did play in the ECHL which is a pro league, which does passes WP:HOCKEY/WP:BIO. Otherwise, it can be merged if deleted to Joe Sakic.--JForget 23:24, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Keep by virtue of being the WHL's all-time scoring leader and second all time in scoring in Canadian Juniors. Smashville 19:19, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Keep as all-time leading scorer in Western Hockey League. Skudrafan1 00:55, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Keep I think his outstanding junior career is more than enough to justify the article, not to mention his WHL record. LeorgeWBelch 10:21, 27 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leorge W Belch (talk • contribs)
