[edit] Backyard Wildlife Habitat
Fits squarely into WP:NOT, unencyclopedic how to, delete--Peta 23:20, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Delete. Agreed. WP:NOT unless it can be converted into something other than a how to.Devotchka 23:35, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Weak Delete Seems like a real program however 99% of the article is how to.Keep Article vastly improved now with 0% how to!--Nick Y. 23:59, 24 May 2006 (UTC)- Comment Article has improved a little since it was prodded. Prod tag was removed, so the prod'er brought it here. I saw and didn't object to the prod while it was up. I suspect the original edit may have been by someone who helps run the program, given their username of Backyarder1 and total lack of other contributions. The topic is real, the program is real, the article is crud. Hmm... No vote yet. GRBerry 01:22, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep. I'm the one who removed the PROD tag. Now I've removed the original how-to content as well, leaving the article as what, to me, seems like a legitimate stub. --Allen 01:29, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Your kidding, if anything this should just redirect to National Wildlife Federation, this is not encyclopedic content.--Peta 01:47, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep, expand at least one scholarly paper entitled "Using Implementation and Program Theory to Examine Communication Strategies in National Wildlife Federation's Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program" has paid attention to it.[1] the program.] I lack a subscription to read the article... but it is by members of the game/conservation departments of two U.S. states. The program is also cited as a valid source for info on the topic by a third state's game/conservation department.[2] The program began in 1973, but apparently the NWF tried to republicize it (new press releases, this article, etc... in April/May of 2006. About 41 hits in a google book search. A book on the topic by the program manager ranked at amazon.com today as #13,890, yesterday as #17,296. Clearly notable. Allen eliminated the flagrant advertising, current version lacks required items but those can be edited in given time. (In fact, I'd rather do that than clean-up vomit, but toddlers don't work to adult's schedules.) GRBerry 01:52, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- And, as per {{sofixit}}, I've done some expansion. I think we now have an implicit assertion of notability. (I haven't found a site claiming "largest" or "oldest" or anything like that, which would be better.) I think it is still a stub. GRBerry 02:46, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep. Referenced program from a notable organization. I actually remember this one from my younger days. For some reason, my mom wouldn't let our back yard grow into a wilderness area. Oh, the oppression I experienced . . . ScottW 02:49, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
