[edit] EWS Period
In 1996, EWS took over the three privatised frieght companies and Rail Express Systems. This meant that 37717 became an EWS locomotive. It worked solidly for EWS for nearly 8 years until December 2003 when it was stored as a tatical reserve in the WNTR pool
[edit] The Future
37717 never worked for EWS again after it was stored, and in late 2007, was tendered for sale along with 27 other locomotives. [[West Coast Railway Company bought 37717 along with several other 37's and it is likely that it will be returned to service.
