If you want to make changes and try again, copy and paste your article into a new submission and make your changes there. Quiet Company, is a Piano Rock band hailing from Austin, Texas. It is led by Taylor Glen Muse. Their first album was released by Northern Records and is distributed in the United States and Canada by RED Distribution (Sony BMG). [edit] BiographyMuse was on the leading lines of The East Texas Indie Music boom with his bands Uncle Andrew and Neckpunch. He also lended a helping hand to create Eisley's debut album for Warner Bros. Records, as well as giving them their name writing several songs for the family formed group while playing Bass guitar in Live shows. Taylor played Drums and guitar in early incarnations of The Lonely Hearts ,a.k.a. Holland, a.k.a. Somerset but opted not to make the trek away from East Texas to join them in Nashville Tn, where they are based to this day. He recorded several tracks under the Moniker Quiet Company that he released Independently, while playing with his band The Connotations. He also lent the track, Music For The Masses (When The Masses Have Mullets) to Jeff Cloud's label Velvet Blue's Scene But Not Herd volume 3 compilation, Catalog #VBM 053 as an unsigned artist. Several of the tracks on Quiet Company's debut album Shine Honesty were arranged and composed while Muse was fronting The Connotations. After some soul searching, the band decided to part ways after their only official release, Trouble by The Truckloads off of Mono Vs Stereo's The Revolution Will Begin In The Blink Of An Eye compilation. Muse took a handful of the songs that they had demoed and recorded Shine Honesty with Alex Bhore in May 2005. He now had a record, and starting auditioning band mates to play his tunes. Northern Records heard the unmastered version and invited Taylor Muse and Quiet Company to find a home with them. Andrew D. Prickett lended his own brand of expertise in the Mixing and Mastering of the album and in March 23, 2006 Northern Records released Shine Honesty to the masses. Quiet Company is currently touring nationally. They recently became runner ups in Austin City Limits ACL Fest in Austin, TX. As well as recently completing their first music video for the song Fashionabel, off of Shine Honesty. The Video was shot in Nashville, TN by New Valiant Productions and directed by American film maker Cameron McCasland. [edit] Discography[edit] Albums1. Shine Honesty [edit] Compilations1. [edit] List of California floods since 1861
This request for creation has been accepted. Please do not modify it. |
---|
This request for creation has been reviewed. The reviewer comments appear below the article text.
All types of floods can occur in California though 90% are caused by riverine flooding [1] generally as a result of excessive rainfall, excessive snowmelt, excessive runoff, levee failure or a combination of these sources. Below is a list of flood events that were of significant impact to California. [edit] From 1861 to 1899[edit] December 1861 - January 1862: California's Great FloodBeginning on December 24, 1861, it rained for almost four weeks. The largest flood in California's recorded history occurred from January 9-12, 1862. The entire Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys were inundated for an extent of 250-300 miles, averaging 20 miles in breadth. The rain created an inland sea in Orange County, lasting about three weeks with water standing four feet deep up to four miles from the river. [1] [edit] From 1900 to 1949[edit] 1906: California FloodA storm in late 1906 reported highest ever rainfalls in a southeast to northwest direction from Monterey to Ione in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Three-hundred thousand acres were flooded in the Sacramento Valley. [1] [edit] 1909: California FloodThe storm extended from Fort Ross on the coast to the Feather River basin. LaPorte, in the Feather River basin, had 57.41 inches of rain in 20 days, an event with a return period of 12,000 years. The flood episodes of 1907 and 1909 in California resulted in an overhaul of planned statewide flood control designs. [1] [edit] February 1937: Santa Ana, California FloodThe storm of February 4-7, 1937 resulted in the highest four day rainfall totals at several stations in the Santa Ana River basin. The Riverside north station had over eight inches of rain in that four days, which equaled a 450-year event. [1] [edit] December 1937: Northeast California FloodThe storm of December 1937 was a high elevation event in the Northeast corner of the state. [1] [edit] From 1950 to 1999[edit] December 1955: California FloodThe storm affected the Central Sierra and South Bay areas. The Eel River on the North Coast saw the greatest flow of record to that time while Central Valley rivers saw near record flows. A statewide disaster was declared, though the storm resulted in 74 deaths and $200 million in economic losses. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall was recorded on December 20th, when 15.34 inches fell in Shasta County. [1] [edit] October 1962: California FloodThe Columbus Day storm brought high winds and record breaking rains. Rains fell from Oakland to Alturas with record setting three-day rainfall for Lake Spaulding of 23.05 inches. One hundred seventy-four gage stations recorded their highest three day rainfall totals to that time. The storm caused $4 million in damages. [1] [edit] March 1964: North Coast California TsunamiAn Alaskan rarthquake caused a tsunami in March 1964, which completely devastated several North Coast towns which resulted in 14 deaths and an economic loss of $14 million in Del Norte County alone. [1] [edit] December 1964: California FloodThe six days from December 19-24, 1964 were the wettest ever recorded at many stations on the North Coast. Every major stream in the North Coast produced new high values of extreme peak flows. Thirty-four California counties were declared disaster areas. [1] [edit] February 1986: Northern California and Western Nevada FloodsOn February 11, a vigorous low pressure system drifted east out of the Pacific, creating a pineapple express [2] that lasted through February 24 unleashing unprecedented amounts of rain on Northern California and Western Nevada. [3] The nine day storm over California constituted half of the average annual rainfall for the year. [1] Record flooding occurred in three streams that drain to the southern part of the San Francisco Bay area. [3] Extensive flooding occurred in Napa and Russian Rivers. Napa, north of San Francisco recorded their worst flood to this time [4] while nearby Calistoga recorded 29 inches of rain in 10 days creating a once-in-a-thousand-year rainfall event. [2] Records for 24 hour rain events were reported in the Central Valley and in the Sierra. One thousand-year rainfalls were recorded in the Sierras. [1] The heaviest 24-hour rainfall ever recorded in the Central Valley at 17.60 inches occurred on February 17 at Four Trees in the Feather River basin. [2] In Sacramento, nearly 10 inches of rain fell in an 11-day period. [1] System breaks in the Sacramento River basin included disastrous levee breaks in the Olivehurst and Linda area on the Feather River. [1] Linda, about 40 miles north of Sacramento, was devastated after the levee broke on the Yuba River's south fork, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate. [5] In the San Joaquin River basin and the Delta, levees break along the Mokelumne River caused flooding in the community of Thornton and the inundation of four Delta islands. [1] Lake Tahoe rose 6 inches as a result of high inflow. [3] The California flood resulted in 13 deaths, 50,000 people were evacuated and over $400 million in property damage. [1] Three thousand residents of Linda joined in a class action lawsuit, Paterno v. State of California, which eventually reached the California Supreme Court in 2004. The California high court affirmed the District Court of Appeal's decision that said California was liable for millions of dollars in damages. [5] [edit] January and March 1995: California FloodDuring the events of January and March 1995, over 100 stations recorded their greatest 1-day rainfalls in that station’s history. The major brunt of the January storms hit the Sacramento River Basin and resulted in small stream flooding primarily due to storm drainage system failures, though flooding affected nearly every part of the state. The Salinas River exceeded its previous measured record crest by more than four feet, which was within a foot or two of the reputed crest of the legendary 1862 flood. The Napa River set a new peak record with the Russian and Pajaro Rivers approached their record peaks. Twenty-eight people were killed and the flood cost $1.8 billion. [1] [edit] New Year's Day 1997: Northern California FloodA series of tropical storms collectively called a pineapple connection, hit northern California from late December 1996 to early January 1997. [1] December 1996 was one of the wettest Decembers on record. [1] The Klamath River on California's North Coast experienced significant flooding which led to the river permanently changing course in some areas. [6] The Klamath National Forest experienced its worst flood since 1974. [6] Unprecedented flows from rain surged into the Feather River basin while melted snow surged into the San Joaquin River basin. [6] Rain fell at elevations up to 11,000 feet/3374 meters, prompting snow melt. [6] With these warm weather storms generally comes large amounts of snow melt. [1] The Cosumnes River, a tributary to the San Joaquin River bore the brunt of the flooding. [6] Sacramento is spared though levee failures flood Olivehurst, Arboga, Wilton, Manteca, and Modesto. [7] Massive landslides in the Eldorado National Forest east of Sacramento closed Highway 50. [6] Damages totaled US$35 million (1997 dollars). [6] Watersheds in the Sierra Nevada were already saturated by the time three subtropical storms added more than 30 inches of rain in late December 1996 and early January 1997. [1] Levee failures due to breaks or overtopping in the Sacramento River Basin resulted in extensive damages. [1] In the San Joaquin River Basin, dozens of levees failed throughout the river system and produced widespread flooding. [1] The Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta also experienced several levee breaks and levee overtopping. [1] Forty-eight counties were declared disaster areas, including all 46 counties in northern California. [1] Over 23,000 homes and businesses, agricultural lands, bridges, roads and flood management infrastructures – valued at about $2 billion – were damaged. Nine people were killed and 120,000 people were evacuated from their homes. [1] Three hundred square miles were flooded, including the Yosemite Valley, which flooded for the first time since 1861-62. By 2003, ten years after the firm was founded, EMB had become the dominant actuarial consultancy in UK personal lines, especially in the motor market. In the international market, it has achieved the joint largest presence at Lloyd’s of London and a growing client base among commercial insurers and reinsurers, many of them based overseas. It is also a leader in the large and growing run-off business. EMB has expanded internationally and now has offices on every continent. Most recently, they have opened offices in Norway, Japan and South Africa. EMB has a substantial and growing client-base among insurers and reinsurers based in the UK and overseas. Current issues such as Solvency II and the move in pricing away from tariffs to more open markets have seen clients from various countries go to EMB for assistance. [edit] NOTABLE AWARDS
[edit] INDUSTRY RESEARCHEMB regularly undertakes industry research to inform the industry of changes in general insurance and to help clients have an insight into useful market information. EMB’s most recent research was for the International Underwriters Association’s [1] Fourth UK Bodily Injury Awards Study [2]. This report shows that claims paid by insurers have been rising by around 10% p.a. for at least the past twenty years. The upward trend is unlikely to end any time soon, according to one of the study’s authors. This Study contained a lot of good news for the insurance industry and can be seen as a tribute to its increased effectiveness and technical capability. Companies are identifying claims earlier, paying them more quickly and reserving more accurately. [edit] ACTUARIAL SOFTWAREEMB is the world’s largest producer of non-life actuarial software [3]. They have a committed team of software developers and testers in their Research and Development Division. The developers and testers work closely with EMB consultants on the design and specifications, which follows through to the thorough testing of the products before release. The software helps companies with risk assessment and modeling, financial and business simulations, reinsurance decisions, pricing analysis and optimization and loss reserving. [edit] EXTERNAL LINKS

Standard Bank's involvement in South African cricket at domestic and international level was propelled to greater heights with the launch of the Standard Bank Pro20 Series in 2004. Delivering a new phenomenon known as "sportainment", the Standard Bank Pro20 Series is a new generation limited-overs tournament, which has added another dimension to domestic cricket in South Africa. As a strength-versus-strength competition, based on a modern game format, it involves 20 overs per innings. Play is fast and furious, and each match lasts approximately three hours with a feast of tremendous bowling, huge batting sprees and fantastic fielding. The Series targets a much broader and younger spectrum of sports fans as South Africa's finest cricketers have thrilled cricket lovers around the country. The response to this form of the game has been extremely positive and the stage has been set for a new era of exhilarating and competitive cricket. Eighteen matches are played in the Standard Bank Pro20 Series, over four weeks, with the six professional franchise teams playing each other in a round robin format. From the round robin stage, the top four teams play in the semi-finals in order to advance to the Series final. [edit] Standard Bank International Pro20The Standard Bank Pro20 competition has added another dimension to one-day domestic cricket in South Africa and has become a valuable extension of Standard Bank's long-standing one-day cricket sponsorship portfolio. With three seasons of the domestic twenty-over format having been completed with huge success, Standard Bank elected to make an additional investment in the international Pro20 game. The inaugural Standard Bank International Pro20 between New Zealand and South Africa officially launched the 2005/6 season, and the anticipated positive response from the cricket loving public to the international era of 20-over cricket has taken the game to new levels. South Africa played India in a historic International Pro20 - it was India's first ever - on 1 December 2006 and another ground-breaking game will be played at Liberty Life Wanderers on 2 February 2007 between the Proteas and Pakistan. In response to the public demand for further Pro20 action, the ICC (International Cricket Council) awarded the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship to South Africa, and this event - won by India - was played in September 2007. If you want to make changes and try again, copy and paste your article into a new submission and make your changes there. The American Fair-Play Rules are a set of rules intended for amateur boxing matches. Recorded by professional boxer William Edwards in his 1888 book, The Art of Boxing and Science of Self-Defense, together with a Manual of Training, he attributes the rules to a "David Blanchard of Boston Mass." Further, Edwards claims that the rules are based off of the Marquess of Queensberry rules and that it "has been warmly endorsed by many prominent lovers of the manly art." The reasons Edwards gives for adoption of these rules are, in his estimation, that they "will encourage fairer and more harmless, and at the same time more scientific and interesting exhibitions of the old and much admired sport."
Suggestion to referee: While in the foregoing rules broad and unrestricted powers are reposed in the referee in order that his authority may be unquestioned in preventing intentional violations of the rules and of fair dealing, it is expected that the referees will use the greatest caution and wisest discretion in the exercise of their power and in distinguishing accidental mistakes on the part of the contestants or their supporters from willful violations of the spirit of these articles. If you want to make changes and try again, copy and paste your article into a new submission and make your changes there. Biliana and Kiril are circus performers and come from very different backgrounds. Biliana is the daughter of an industrialist father and a chemist mother. At a very early age she was selected to join the Bulgarian National Trampoline Team due to her gymnastic aptitude. Biliana took the brave step and ran away to fulfil her lifelong ambition of joining a circus. This was frowned upon by her parents as they were disdainful of circus life and also the State had invested much in her training. Biliana is very well travelled and has worked with many circuses including the Bulgarian State Circus. She has benefited from touring in Russia, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Italy, France, UK and Cuba and as a result is multi-lingual. Kiril was actually born into the circus – his father being both circus owner and artiste having starred in the famous USA Ringling’s Circus. Kiril had the benefit of a conventional education. He excelled academically and considered a career in economics. He attended university and, having completed his compulsory national service in the Bulgarian Army, he worked as an accountant. Once Biliana and Kirl became a couple they found it increasingly difficult to be apart due to Biliana touring and Kiril working in an office so they decided that Kiril should return to the circus. They consequently formed ‘Duo Jordanov’ and are renowned throughout the circus world and now own and perform in their own touring show – the Big Kid Circus. Some are so hairy and slow that they have been known to eat thousands of sloth balls aka cheese doodles in a three minute sitting. Sloth bears have been known to be to enjoy movies such as Ice Age and 1980's classics such as the Predator. One of the few known sloth bears in these regions has been known to habitat at 35 Grove St. Keene, NH 03431. This sloth bear has had many nicknames such as: hairy hair ball, saber tooth sloth, loothh cougar, courgar bear and the rarest cougarbearest. Most mating calls are known as Bmmmmm I'm right here Cheeeelllss!!! these are times of great anger or when the animal goes into heat. Most scientists have been known to stay away from his den and bars like panuchis. If you see one of these species you should take caution as well as be ready to chant "Who? Matt Craig!"

Web 5.0 shows promising signs of being adopted as a service and content delivery platform, although it is considered by some industry experts as an evolution in the Web x.0 series, to be consistent with the lack of actual technical and return on investment based business practices that typify ever increasing Web x.0 versions. Many Web 5.0 protagonists believe that Web 5.0 will be vindicated as a successful platform when an early 20s entrepreneur makes a large sum of money selling the idea of Web 5.0 to a group of venture capitalists. Technically Web 5.0 is based upon the premise of providing highly advanced web based applications, services and interfaces across all telecommunication network layers to users, services servicing users, intelligent user devices and potentially the household pets of users. The objective of Web 5.0 is to be able to offer highly secure services everywhere, at anytime, for everyone (and their pets), for everything.
