Intro2 were a British rock band, formed in August 2001. Although never signed to a record label the band made a music video for their song 'Clear' which featured the actors Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules and Norman Lovett, all stars of the cult BBC Sitcom 'Red Dwarf'. The video made it onto many music television channels around the world and helped the band gain a lot of fans, and a lot of attention from the 'Red Dwarf' fan community, but still the band remained unsigned. The band dropped their original drummer in January 2004 and recorded a 10 track album under the new name 'Kanuba', then performed a single gig at 'Sound' in London's Leicester Square before splitting for good. The video for 'Clear' became a bonus 'Easter Egg' feature of the Red Dwarf Series VIII DVD, released by the BBC in 2006.

Walter John Koehler (October 25, 1939 – July 2, 2001) was a Lutheran scholar, pastor and seminary professor. He was born and grew up in Claresholm, Alberta. He graduated from high school at Concordia University College of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta where he also began his college education. He then transferred to Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he completed his BA in 1961.

His theological studies were all done at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his Bachelor of Divinity there in [[1965], Master of Sacred Theology in 1966, Master of Divinity in 1971 and Doctor of Theology in 1978.

Dr. Koehler used the topic of his doctoral dissertation as the subject for a practical handbook on pastoral counseling. [1]

Dr. Koehler was ordained as a minister in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in 1966. His first pastorate was at Peace Lutheran Church in Spruce Grove, Alberta from 1966 to 1973. He was a professor at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Saskatoon where he primarily taught homiletics, New Testament courses and practical theology until 1988. He served in a number of other Lutheran Church Canada churches in Saskatchewan: Faith Lutheran Church in Saskatoon, Trinity Lutheran in Wilkie, St. John's Lutheran in Warman, Peace Lutheran Fellowship in Martensville and Mt. Calvary Lutheran in Swift Current. One of his best-known sermons was based on the 1922 story of the Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams.

Walter J. Koehler was the Chief Executive Officer of the Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres [2] from 1991 to 1994. He died in Swift Current, Saskatchewan where he is also buried.

The first mention of +44 pulling out of their European festival and show appearances was on August 6, 2007 by Mark Hoppus on his blog site himynameismark. He stated the following:

"back to +44, we’re all really bummed that we can’t go to europe for the festivals and shows over there this summer. we were all looking forward to the tour. we’ll be back soon."

The music website NME then released the following statement from the band on August 8, 2007 with the official reason of studio commitments for their follow up to their 2006 debut, When Your Heart Stops Beating.

"We want to start writing new songs and we are really excited about the direction we have planned. So we're going into the studio instead of playing these few dates. We hope our fans will forgive us for the cancellation; in the end, this will make for an even better live show when we come back."

Following on from these statements Mark Hoppus revealed on his blog site himynameismark some information regarding the writing of the follow up to When Your Heart Stops Beating, he stated:

"now we are starting to write the next record. we’ve got a bunch of ideas; a studio full of instruments, microphones, and effects; and a soundboard from the 1970’s. we’re excited to start putting together a new album."

Joe Cutler studied music at the Universities of Hull and Durham, before studying at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw through a Polish Government Scholarship. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Cutler was part of a general movement of young composers who were influenced by the harsher minimalist sound-world of Louis Andriessen and also looked more to the rhythmic drive of Igor Stravinsky than Arnold Schoenberg's atonality as a historical influence. The hard-edge sound of many Cutler's early works such as 'Epitaph for Nebula' (1989) and 'Blast!' (1992) showed influences as diverse as Dutch minimalism, 1980s avant-garde modernism, Stravinskian rhythmic drive and jazz. Throughout the 1990s, the rhythmic complexities and atonality of such early works began to give way to simpler (yet still driving) rhythms and illusions to Eastern-European modality and jazz. The minimalist influence has since then become stronger in works such as 'Sal's Sax' (1996) for the De Ereprijs Ensemble, whilst a stronger lyrical side has also shown itself in works like 'Sikorski' (2005). His music is often strongly influenced by extra-musical sources, including the novelists Jack Kerouac, Kazuo Ishigura and Sebastian Faulks and the painter William de Kooning. Since 2000, Cutler has been teaching at the Birmingham Conservatoire, and since 2005, he has been the Head of Composition there. In 2000, he co-founded the ensemble Noszferatu. In 2000, he won 2nd prize in the Toru Takemitsu Prize with his orchestral piece 'Awakenings' (1997).

The Ensemble Mediterrain appears in different formations, from trio to octet or even a small chamber orchestra, and has a wide and interesting repertoire that includes some of the most important chamber works by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Messiaen, Schubert, Schoenberg or Stravinsky.

The modern music is other priority of the Ensemble Mediterrain by privileging a close work with contemporary composers of different countries. Sir Stephen Sedley, A UK Appeal Court Justice, has provoked considerable debate about the role of government in collecting and keeping DNA samples. At present criminal suspects detained by the police in the UK automatically are given cheek swabs and their DNA kept, in perpetuity, by the government. This has created the situation where different races are differently represented in the DNA banks. On the grounds that this situation is indefensible, Justice Sedley argued for a blanket DNA collection policy, including collecting samples from all visitors to the UK.

Nepalese Sacrificial Customs

Since the beginning of Nepalese civilization and culture, nearly fifty years ago, animal sacrifice has played an intimate and dominant role in almost all religious activity.

The social norm for animal sacrifice ranges from the birth of a child, a wedding, or even jump-starting one's car (the latter procedure involves a chicken and quickly slammed hood; grisly but effective). Essentially, nearly every daily action revolves around animal sacrifice. To this effect the Nepalese are known to keep stables of livestock and smaller animals (because who really wants to kill a whole goat to perform the lighting the cigarette ceremony?) on hand regularly.

An entire industry of sacrificial animal sale is essential to Nepal's economy, contributing nearly 12.5% to their yearly GDP according to the United Nations annual survey of ass backward nations.

The standard procedure for a Nepalese animal sacrifice involves a fresh roll of duct tape, a car battery, jumper cables, a case of bud light, and a Weber (tm) grill. Sacrifices must be ritually performed by certified Union Labor Shamans (See also Teamster influence on undeveloped Eastern culture) as hiring non-union Shamans seems to bring bad luck and even tragedy on ones businesses.

Little else is known of this practice as foreigners have not been allowed into Nepal since "The Great Sacrificial Goat Scare of 1972"

Drew Pritt is a local activist and the first openly gay individual to run for statewide public office in Arkansas.

Pritt was born in West Virginia but moved to Arkansas with his family where he finished his education and establshed a local political consulting business, Pritt Consulting Services. Though Pritt worked in a number of states for other campaigns he retained a residence in Little Rock.

In August of 2005, Pritt announced his candidacy as a Democrat for Lt. Governor after two other potential clients of his, former State Senator Kevin Smith of Helena and Mayor Gene Yarbrough of Star City, chose not to run. Pritt ran on such diverse issues as establishing a statewide education lottery, opposing a highway bond plan, and expanding the role of Lt. Governor to have more influence in the administration of the Arkansas State Senate. Pritt removed himself from contention on the last day of filing in mid-March 2006 and endorsed State Representative Mike Hathorn. He was the subject of a movie about his campaign entitled Citizen Pritt. Pritt was active in organizing formal opposition to SB # 959, a bill that would prevent GLBT households from continuing to adopt in the state of Arkansas. Pritt announced his candidacy and is a candidate for Little Rock School Board, Zone #2, endorsed by the Little Rock Free Press.

Pritt is an an active member of Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas. He is a member of the National Cathedral Association, Delta Caucus Initiative, the NRA, the Knights of Pythia, the Interfaith Alliance, and the Human Rights Campaign. Pritt is the son of a Presbyterian minister and is a strong supporter of organized labor, as well as the cousin of former State Senator Charlotte Pritt and Roger Pritt of West Virginia. He served as Democratic County committeeman for Bradley County, Arkansas, from 1992 to 1998 and currently is an active member of the Pulaski County Democratic Central Committee.

The galeas is a small type of trade ship, which was common in the Baltic Sea and North Sea during the 17th to the early 20th centuries. The characteristics of the ships depend somewhat from where the ship originated. Swedish (and Finnish) versions had two masts and were rigged as ketchs during the 18th century. Later on there were larger versions, which could be equipped with three masts and be rigged as ships. The galeas was developed from the Dutch galliot, which was rigged in a similar way, but was equipped with a rounded stern. The Swedish galliot was sometimes called "Dutch hoy" or "English dogger. The galeas has a galliot's rig, but a square stern.

Pseudonym of Jean Baptiste Pitois, who wrote The History and Practice of Magic, first published in France in 1870. He was born May 15, 1811, at Remiremont, France. His family wanted him to become a priest and allowed him to be raised in a monastic community. However, he eventually decided against the priesthood, and as a young man moved to Paris, where he became the associate of Charles Nodier, one of the leading literary lights of the romantic movement, which was then emerging on the Continent. Nodier's interest in the occult transferred to Pitois.

Pitois became a journalist and wrote largely under the pen name Paul Christian. He cowrote Historic Paris: Walks in the Streets of Paris (1837-1840), which was his first book, with Nodier. It was followed by his Studies of the Paris Revolution (1839). That same year he was appointed librarian of the Ministry of Public Education. Working with Nodier through the mass of uncataloged material opened up a new level of interest in the occult, although it was not manifested for years. Meanwhile, he took his turn in the French army (Algiers, 1843-44) and wrote several historical texts. His most important were the History of the Terrors (1853) and the multivolume Heroes of Christianity (1853-57). A hint of what was to come appeared in 1844 with his Stories of the Marvelous from All Times and Lands.

Pitois had read about occultism and developed a strong anticlerical stance. During his life, many Eastern texts had been translated into French, as had the works of Emanuel Sweden-borg. In 1859 Pitois turned his attention to writing Historie de la Magie, du monde Surnaturel et de la fatalité a travers les Temps et les Peuples (1870). Carefully written so as not to offend his largely Catholic audience, it immediately became popular public reading. It surveyed the whole of the occult, explaining each element, and provided a history of occult practice in the West from ancient times.

Pitois wrote one additional book, The History of the War with Prussia and of the Two Sieges of Paris, 1870-71 (1872-73). His health declined through the 1870s, and he died at Lyons on July 12, 1877. He left behind a still-unpublished work on astrology that reportedly contains numerous allusions to contemporary events as proof of the value of the horoscope.
