The Roundhouse is a notable music venue located on Chalk Farm Road in the Camden district of London. It was originally built as a locomotive shed in 1846. Converted to theatre in 1964 by playwright Arnold Wesker, then to a music venue, the Roundhouse has been the scene of many important rock concerts over the last four decades, including apearances by Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Blondie and many other acts. However the correct reason for refusing this entry is because it duplicates an already existing one, although a search for Roundhouse will not lead a user to it. |

Peter Knobler is a writer and, during the 1970s, the influential editor of Crawdaddy! magazine. At Crawdaddy!, Knobler gave many rock critics their first chance to appear in a national magazine and was an early supporter of perfromers such as Bruce Springsteen. As a writer, he collaborated on a number of books, including All's Fair by James Carville and Mary Matalin and the autobiographies of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, former Texas Governor Ann Richards, New York City police commissioner William Bratton, and businessman Sumner Redstone. He also co-edited Very Seventies: A Cultural History of the 1970s from the pages of Crawdaddy (with Greg Mitchell). [edit] Lorem Ipsum Books

If you want to make changes and try again, copy and paste your article into a new submission and make your changes there. Lorem Ipsum Books (named after the Lorem Ipsum placeholder text) opened in February 2004 by recent MIT Media Lab graduate Matt Mankins who believed that independent stores should embrace the Internet as sales partner rather than competitor. Mankins believed that bookstores needed to do two things if they were to remain viable: 1) Sell globally and 2) Price with market intelligence not rules of thumb. [1]. The Lorem Ipsum Bookstore is the real-world test laboratory for Mankins's ideas on how to stop the extinction of bookstores, but first and foremost, it's a traditional, brick-and-mortar bookstore. [edit] Specialty: Useful BooksLorem Ipsum Books is a general purpose bookstore, without a particular specialty other than its claim that all books in its store are 'useful books'. The store houses approximately 20,000 individual titles than run the realm between Fiction, Science, History, Biography, Art, Typography and many other genres. In addition to the store's 20,000 titles, the store maintains a warehouse of over 50,000 additional titles that may be requested and run over by the store staff. All of the store's inventory is available for perusal via the company website. [edit] Inventory Control SoftwareThe casual book buyer may not notice a difference between the appearance of Lorem Ipsum Books and other independent bookstores, but behind the scenes the store is run by custom-made inventory control software called "Ka-Zam" that enables 100% of its inventory to be sold simultaneously online via sites like Amazon.com as well as in the brick and mortar store. Additionally as a departure from traditional bookstores who price used books at half off the cover price, Lorem Ipsum Books uses its inventory control system to spider the Internet and calculate a competitive "market price" for its inventory which appears on semi-adhesive barcodes on the back of the store's books. As customer Ted Selker explained the software, "It's like a cash register, only instead of the worker telling the register the price, the register tells the worker". [edit] QuirksIn an effort to make the Lorem Ipsum Bookstore experience memorable and community driven, the store is home to several "quirky" additions. For example, on the counter top where you check out, there is a red plastic square lid that you can lift--this sets off a sensor which pulls today's "word of the day" from the store's computer which is read out loud by a computer voice over the store's speakers. Anyone who buys a book with the word-of-the-day in the title of the book receives 10% off. In addition, outside the store flanking either side of the entrance door are two black wooden boxes with lids: one is labeled "Button Box", and the other "Mutton Box". Opening the lid to the Button Box reveals three red buttons; pressing the buttons leads to computer voices from the speaker that says 'I like to read' or 'Thank you for pressing my button'. Opening the Mutton Box shows an inside lined with cut-outs from books of sheep and sheep-herders. As you open the box a sensor is triggered and a "sheep sound" emanates from the box. The Mutton Box is actually a Geocache, so there is a log book and other items that other travelers have left [2]. The store is also home of the "Chicken Machine". The Chicken Machine is a red, 1950s era Gumball machine whose face includes a boy and a chicken. When you put a quarter in the machine, the chicken pecks the boy's head and dispenses a plastic egg. Lorem Ipsum Books has a program that gives plastic eggs to its customers for them to leave 'notes' 'knickknacks' 'poetry' or 'whatever you want' for other customers to purchase. The Chicken Machine is a focal point for Cambridge's DIY community who keep the machine filled without Lorem Ipsum intervention. [edit] EventsBesides the occasional reading or author appearance, Lorem Ipsum Books has hosted numerous Indie Rock acts in conjunction with the Cambridge music series known as the Critique of Pure Reason. In recent years this has included Patrick Wolf, John Vanderslice, [3] and Soltero. [edit] Awards

The Truss Spot is a theatrical technician employed and who operates specialized stage lighting instruments as a Spotlight_operator. They run a Followspot mounted on a truss usually at a Concert. The lights are designed to move, change size, beam, and color easily by hand following a performer and/or musician around the stage Truss spots are considered a more senior position and require additional skills than basic Followspot operation such as being able to climb. Truss Spots must not have a fear of heights since the average trim height is around 30-45 feet or 10-15 meters. Safety When working at height, spotlight operators should wear a harness for fall arrest. Operators may wish to wear gloves to protect themselves from burns because of the follow spot's temperature. Truss spot operators may need to wear additional safety equipment of goggles and a flame proof jumpsuit to be protected from pyrotechnics. Due to hazardous sound Decibel levels spot ops may need to wear ear plugs in addition to their communication headset to prevent Noise-induced_hearing_loss. The wearing of protection reduces the overall level of assault on hearing. This does not interfere with the ability to hear cues since the headset volume must be set to a level higher the ambient noise level. This article is a stub for Spotlight_operator detailing a more specialized area of the job [edit] Sources
