[edit] Chace Crawford
Growing to be 6 feet tall in Dallas, Texas Chace Crawford's mother was a teacher and his father was a dermatologist; he also has a sister Candice. In high school Chace was very talented, involved in golf, football and a demonstrated artist. At first Chace started modeling, not pursuing his acting career at this point. After some time Chace decided to go to college in California, Malibu to be exact where he attended Pepperdine University and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Not knowing what career path to pursue or what he wanted to be in life, he changed courses for sometime until his mother convinced him to take up acting in the midst of his second year. A brilliant choice, inspired from his aptitude test in high school that said that he should have a career in the performing arts. As an up-and-coming Chace has already starred in the TV movie Long Lost Son and the movie theatre hit The Covenant about a family battling another, with supernatural powers. Yes, it may sound like a cheesy bad version of Lord of The Rings but in reality its an interesting movie filled with a gorgeous cast. Not to mention that he is going to star in the film Loaded also staring Jesse Metcalfe. But the thing that most interest me is his new TV role in Gossip Girls. Crawford is going to be Nate Archibald, the gorgeous Upper West Side guy who catches everyones eye, and frequently cheates on his girlfriend Blair Waldorf with her bestfriend Serena Van Der Woodsen. I'm very interested in seeing how this show, based on the New York Times Best Seller Cecily Von Ziegesar series, Gossip Girls now having 10 books, with another coming out in the fall, its the most amazing series i have read. Just wait and see, Chace will become big. $4m!.

Extend your right fist and swing in a pivoting motion. 4. Aim for the jaw, and strike with the backs of the knuckles. Your fist should be vertical. 5. Return to the fighters stance. [edit] Gary Kent, President, Liberal Party (ACT Division)
Gary Kent is President of the Australian Capital Territory Division of the Liberal Party of Australia [1]. Kent was elected to the position in 2000 after several years as Chairman of the Party's Central Electorate Branch. Kent was in the center of a controversy in November of 2006 after a private email to Steve Pratt MLA [2] was leaked to The Canberra Times. The email warned Pratt about his behavior "You are heading into dangerous territory here mate, you and your colleagues should take a deep breath and divorce yourself from the muckraking." Kent has been closely linked to prominent Member and leadership aspirant, Richard Mulcahy MLA [3]. The Canberra Times published the email in its entirety. The content and leaking of the email became key issues at the Party's AGM several weeks later. At the meeting, Kent and his supporters were re-elected at one of the biggest meetings in living memory. Gary was born in Melbourne in 1960 and has served as an adviser to several Federal Ministers and is currently a Company Secretary. [edit] Sources |

[edit] Murray Garrett
[edit] Early YearsIn 1941 Murray Garrett began working part time for the New York City based Graphic House INC. Working beside the legendary theatrical photographer Eileen Darby, Garrett photographed Broadway musicals and plays such as “On The Town,” “Oklahoma,” and “Carousel.” In 1946 Graphic House opened up a West Coast office prompting Garrett to travel west, where he was assigned to cover a Bob Hope tour. This happened to be a huge turning point in Murray Garrett’s career because Bob Hope became such a fan of Garrett’s photographs that he requested that Garrett cover all of his radio shows, which he did for the next 25 years. [edit] Photographic CareerIn the 50s Garrett created a firm, Garrett-Howard INC, with another portrait photographer Gene Howard. Their services began to get recognized by celebrities of the day, which helped to make the firm one of the most successful in Hollywood. Typical services included candid, and studio photography, as well as services to publications and the entertainment industry. They also covered personal events; for example, Frank Sinatra’s private surprise 21st birthday party to Natalie Wood. Garrett was also hired to photograph Liz Taylor and Richard Burton’s outing in which they a chartered helicopter to Disneyland and had private access to an apartment owned by Walt Disney. In addition he was the only photographer cleared to photograph Bob Hope’s daughters wedding. In the 60s the Garrett-Howard firm changed its name to Studio Five INC with the addition of world renowned illustrator Leo Monahan. From this time on Studio Five worked for nearly every major record label and studio in the US. Some years they would be contracted to produce as many as 350 record album covers. Garrett was subsequently nominated to serve on the West Coast Board of Directors of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). [edit] AwardsIn 1989 Murray Garrett was honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The academy sponsored a gala event which introduced a retrospective of his photographs and remained on display at the academy for more than 60 days. [edit] Publications(2000) Murray Garrett. [edit] Gaspar Roca
Gaspar Roca The founder in 1974 and editor of El Vocero, Mr. Roca initially filled the market niche for a crime-oriented tabloid left by the closing of El Imparcial newspaper. Under his leadership, El Vocero evolved into what it is today, a mainstream newspaper that can now be described as a tabloid only in the size of the paper it is printed on, with legitimate news occupying its front page and most news pages, an illustrious set of columnists, including Luis Dávila Colón, José Arsenio Torres, Roberto Rexach Benítez, Eudaldo Báez Galib and Juan Manuel García Passalacqua, and a wide variety of sections and supplements. Its daily circulation of 132,000 exceeeds all other dailies except market-leader El Nuevo Día, and actually outsells it in many smaller island towns. El Vocero also publishes an abridged edition out of New York City for the Puerto Rican community on the Eastern seabord. One of his most important contributions to journalism was his willingness to bankroll important freedom-of-information lawsuits that have opened government to intense press and public scrutiny, an example of which is the Supreme Court decision to open preliminary hearings to the press. For years, the daily editorials that he penned personally were the only Spanish-language editorials available regularly to newspaper readers in Puerto Rico (The San Juan Star, which won a Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing was the only other newspaper that published daily editorials, albeit in English). Recently, El Nuevo Día decided to begin publishing daily editorials. Prior to founding El Vocero, the Wharton School-trained economist held prominent positions in government and the private sector, including the presidency of PRIDCO. Born in 1926, he died on April 8, 2007. A memorial service, officiated by San Juan's Roman Catholic Archbishop will be held next week at San Juan's Cathedral. [edit] Matthieu Laurette
Matthieu Laurette (born 1970 in Villeneuve Saint Georges, France) is an acclaimed media and conceptual contemporary French artist who works in a variety of media, from TV and video to installation and public interventions. He lives and works in Paris, Amsterdam and New York. Laurette has often been credited as the spiritual son of Andy Warhol and Guy Debord. Laurette use various strategies to explore the relationships between conceptual art, Pop art, institutional critique, and contemporary society, and to change the contexts of presentation and representation. He established his artistic birth certificate by taking part in a French TV game called 'Tournez manège' (The Dating Game) where the female presenter asked him who he was, to which he replied: 'A multimedia artist'. Laurette had send out invitations to an art audience to view the show on TV from their home, turning his staging of the artist into a performed reality. Laurette is best known for the works 'Apparitions' (1993-ongoing), 'Money-back Products' (Produits remboursés) (1991-2001), 'Citizenship Project' (1996-ongoing), 'El Gran Trueque' (2000) and 'Déjà vu, The International Look-alike Conventions' (2000-ongoing). Since his first 'Apparition' on 'Tournez Manége', Laurette has been devolloping an ongoing series of what he calls 'Apparitions' on TV and in the media. France 3, TV (France) (May 16, 1996), "Journal de 13h" et "Journal de 20h." France 2, TV (France) (May 16, 1997). Laurette’s Apparition: The Today Show, NBC, 31 December 2004, (Guy Debord Is So Cool!)(2004) renegotiates the critique of mass media: amongst love message banners and goofy signs being held up by the audience of the outdoor-broadcast of the NBC infotainment show on Rockefeller Plaza in New York, Laurette held a pink cardboard sign stating “GUY DEBORD IS SO COOL!” Laurette's Produits remboursés/Money-back Products (1993-2001) was his method of shopping and beeing fully refunded based on the basic marketing system of the major food corporations. He fed himself for nothing by almost only ever buying products with "Satisfied or your money back" or "Money back on first purchase" offers. He gained fame in France and abroad at the time appearing on TV and media including in 1997 the French National evening news (Journal de 20h, France 2) and the frontpage of respected daily newspaper Le Monde with the prophetic headline 'Tomorow we will eat for free' (Demain on mange gratis). In 1999 the Daily Express in UK featured him in an article titled "The secret of free shopping" and in 2000 the Daily Reccord named him 'The Freebie King'. Citizenship Project (Wanted: Financial Support to Acquire Citizenships) are a series of projects where Laurette attempts to acquire as many nationalities as possible, asking for donations as well as legal advice and practical support through donation boxes displayed in Museums and exhibitions as well as through websites. At the Venice Biennale in 2001, he offered non-represented countries national participation in the exhibition in exchange for the country granting him citizenship. Produced by Consonni, El Gran Trueque (The Great Exchange) (2000), the TV game Laurette has created, with its own copyrighted concept, offerered TV viewers in Bilbao a chance to buy objects in exchange for a car offered by Laurette – the highest offer would be accepted, and then in turn be presented the following week for another exchange, and so on. [edit] Quotes"I never decided "Oh yes great, tomorrow let's work with media and TV or legal fields ! They are surrounding us, we are part of it, so it seems clear to me that I have to deal with them. I'm just trying to find the best "spots" to develop activities that often interact with different audiences. I'm trying to "hack" or "hijack" contexts, media, audiences, budgets etc., to produce disjunctures. Disjunctures often generate their own tools, which one can in turn appropriate and use." in Ricupero, Cristina. 'Interview with Jens Haaning, Matthieu Laurette, Aleksandra Mir' Publicness exhibition guide, Institute of Contemporary Art (London) January 2003. - "My first Apparition (in french “apparition means both “apparition” and “appearance”) was on the TV show Tournez manège on TF1, a game show based on the American idea of “Blind Date”; two teams, one of three men and the other of two women (or vice versa), were physically divided by a partition and had to choose a partner without seeing them. (This sequence was in fact called “Choisissez-moi!”, “Choose Me!”). At the beginning of the broadcast, each participant introduced himself/herself and answered questions from one of the presenters. She asked me what I wanted to become later in life and I answered: “an artist”. She went on to ask me what medium I worked in… “painting, sculpture?…”, to which I answered “multimedia”. In a context like that, the word I used was completely enigmatic. It probably had no meaning for the general public. In 1993, this word was exclusively used in the art world and not yet with computers, video games, etc. This episode was my artistic birth certificate!" in Sans, Jérôme. 'GUY DEBORD IS SO COOL! [edit] Louis xiii Black Pearl
Louis XIII meets Baccarat and gives birth to Louis XIII Black Pearl, an exclusive series produced from a century-old tierçon*, namely 786 carafes numbered from 001 to 786. The Louis XIII carafe was originally a metal flask found by a peasant in 1850 on the site of the Battle of Jarnac, which in 1569 pitted the Catholics under the Duke of Anjou against the Protestants of the Prince of Condé. It is a complete mystery to whom the gourd in question belonged; it could have been the property of one of the two protagonists or one of their generals. To reinvent the original purchased in 1850 by the Rémy Martin family and then placed in a Paris museum before its mysterious disappearance, Louis XIII is moving away from its traditional garb and looking to the future to adorn itself in unconventionally poetic finery. The alliance of Louis XIII and Baccarat is an unusual tête-à-tête between two sensibilities and two temporalities, proud of a secret alchemy. Louis XIII Black Pearl is flamboyant and elusive, transcending time with a glamorous design combining classicism and modernity. A shower of sparkling stars caresses the pure crystal of the hand-blown carafe to create a futuristic crystal the colour of steel, like a liquid captured in its very substance, and evokes turbulent emotions in those who let their gaze become lost within. The carafe ceaselessly plays with the light, which sweeps, rebounds and is immediately reflected back, creating pure flashes of silver, black, chrome, blue, anthracite and mahogany, like a black pearl, the pearl of queens. The light is fragmented and plays with its shadow. The optical illusions are infinite. This crystal, which is unique in the world, harbours at its heart Louis XIII cognac, aged in the century-old tierçon C100-29, a fabulous witness to the Century that has gone by. Installed in a cellar hidden in the Grollet Homestead since 1960, this extremely rare tierçon is one of the oldest tierçons from the family’s personal reserve. It has aged and nourished the most precious of blends, that of the Louis XIII cognac, made up of some one thousand two hundred eaux-de-vie, some of which are over a hundred years old, originating from the most sought after slopes in the Grande Champagne region. It is said that you need fifteen thousand pearl oysters to obtain the queen of pearls. The fruit of nature, time, work and the passion of men, Louis XIII Black Pearl is also of true rarity, which nothing or no-one could ever reproduce. The union of Louis XIII cognac and black pearl crystal creates the quintessence of an unprecedented complementarity. The iridescent crystal conceals the Absolute essence of the cognac, revealing it to those who are able to look beyond the immediate. In 1874, Paul-Emile Rémy Martin wanted to convey to the world the symbol of a certain idea of Art de Vivre à la française. In the decade following its creation, Louis XIII sparkled over the five continents, from New York to Shanghai, through Paris, Osaka and Cape Town. Nicknamed the King of Cognacs because since its creation it has been the Cognac of Kings, Louis XIII reigned in the greatest royal and imperial courts in Europe, in Bade-Würtemberg or Saint-Petersburg. Served to Queen Elizabeth in 1938, it became England’s cognac of choice when Winston Churchill adopted it in 1948 during a stay in Aix-en-Provence. Sailing in First Class on the Normandie liner in 1932 and on board the Orient-Express for its inaugural journey in 1929 to Constantinople, Louis XIII has always been the part of Great Men's lives. For Churchill, de Gaulle, Doisneau and Tarantino, it is a king, the only one that may be approached, at any time and in any place, in Le Bernardin in New York or Raffles in Singapore. Louis XIII Black Pearl pays homage, with 786 items that are unique in the world, to the intensity of the Century protected by the most advanced crystal of the millennium. Frylock notices a strange growth on his face; a biopsy reveals this to be malignant melanoma. The time machine he built goes to waste as Frylock, facing the uncertainty of recovery and the debilitating effects of chemotherapy, sinks into depression. Meatwad, Shake, Carl, and Andrew W.K. try to console and cheer him the only way they know how: parties and fire. 168.9.9.57 15:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC) |

[edit] Bill Holt
In the late 1990's, Holt became an early adapter of the internet as an artistic medium, again emerging as a pioneering influence in the largely unexplored realm of internet video art. His website, www.dreamies.com, utilizes digital video art in the form of short, surrealistic collage movies. Holt's music as well as his video art contain a satirical political component. This is a further extension of the experimental genre Holt create with the 1974 album. In 2005, his video art website was nominated for the internet industry "Webby Award. Bill Holt was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1943. He grew up in the 1950s in Springfield, Delaware County, a suburb of Philadelphia. His work is Influenced by the bitter politics of the Cold War, the music of experimental composers like John Cage, the daring work of John Lennon's Revolution Number 9, and the unconstrained vocals of Bob Dylan. At the age of 30, with a wife Carole and two children William Jr. and Melissa, he abandoned a lucrative corner office 10 year career with a Fortune 500 company to persue his love for the avante garde. Trading one American Dream for another, Holt, who previously had no musical background with the exception of acoustic guitar strumming, set out to build a basement studio equipped with the affordable technology of the times; a Teac four track recorder, an Ovation acoustic guitar, various electronic gadgets, and, most crucial to his work, one of the original Moog sonic six synthesizers. Part of the motivation for risk taking came from Bill's interest in the potential of emerging technology to enable new art forms. Holt saw in the Moog, a brand new little understood instrument in 1972, the potential for one person to create an unlimited field of sound. That unlimited possibility, along with the idea of incorporating sound snippets, now referred to as "samples" in his compositions led to 18 months of writing and recording. The end result was the 1974 Dreamies album. The All Music Guide refers to this work as "a sensational extension of musique concrete and the Beatles' "Revolution Number Nine". Unable to find financial success with his experimental music, Holt returned to the business world in the 1980's. There he harnessed his creative energy in more practical ways. Eventually building a small electronics firm based of several patents he earned for simple utilitarian devices that became industry leading products in the emerging business of electronic security. By the 1990's, Holt had regained his financial footing, sold his business interests, and returned to the world of experimental art. For the past fifteen years he has immersed himself in all the digital tools off our time. The website dreamies.com, launched in 2002, now holds more than 400 of Holt's video art movies. In 2006, after an absence of more than thirty years from the music scene, a second Dreamies album was released. [edit] Sourceshttp://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:hifexqldldfe

[edit] DJ TMS
[edit] SourcesDJ TMS ,before DJ Red Scorpion; Bér Engels, has already earned his stripes in the night scene. As a young kid his love for music allowed him to accept all kinds of music from pop to reggea, from Michael jackson to Bob marley and so on. Spending years sitting in his room listening to all kinds of music he collected from tv, radio and friends, he started experimenting with music. "My first experience with mixing music was editing musiccassettes with scissors and tape..." He had a big love for music but he never knew what to do with it. When one of his best friends started dj-ing, DJ TMS fell in love with this form of art at the age of 11. "It was love at first sight!" DJ TMS says. When he discovered that his old amplifier allowed 2 sources at the same time he couldn't rest no more and started learn "beat-synchronizing". When his mom bought him his first mixer, DJ TMS practiced every day and every night, not realizing he was building a solid foundation for his biggest passion. With the little money he could save from barbering and pocket money he started building up his record collection. "...sometimes I spent my monthly cantine-money just to buy that record I really wanted" DJ TMS started playing for all his friends' birthday parties. But he wanted more. He started throwing parties and from there other promoters noticed his unique style of dj-ing. Everything DJ TMS saw, learned and experienced in his life and in the clubscene has a great influence in his way of dj-ing. He mixes all genres like hiphop, r&b, latin, danceclassics, house, ragga, pop, rock, garage, jungle in a superb , energetic mix without letting the crowd feel strange about it! In 2004 he started to find DJ-ing and music interesting, so he spend many hours on the web looking for info about mixing and Dj-ing. Then he started to mix with one pickup (from his dad; belt-driven!) and 2 boxes. Then he started to mix on the computer and then he started to mix with real turntables and mixers. He made some good Blends, but in the country he live, they don't like; as he said: "Old-Skool-Blends". So he began making mixes with (commercial) popular vinyl. Then he made just one other Blend, called All Of Tha Shit, Eighty Years Rewind. That did was an success in his country. Without a label, his music was only placed on the web and then stolen by various "wannabe" DJ's. Then he found an label, contacted by a friend of his, that wanted to hear something, they liked it so he was offered a contract. His mixes were published in the UK only, but they sold pretty well. With also doing lightshows, he's a natural born artist, not only good in DJ-ing, but also in other things in music; playing on a keyboard, playing on a guitar/bass and writing jingles and songs. One thing is certain; DJ TMS's future is ensured. 213.84.53.61 19:30, 11 April 2007 (UTC) |
