[edit] Tyler Ianuzi
Tyler Ianuzi This director has produced a number of low budget films including Guitar Hero, The Annoying Gypsy, and Of Violence. He currently resides in Upstate New York with his family. [edit] BiograpyTyler Ianuzi was born on May 4th in Syracuse New York, in Onondaga County to a Christian family. He was exposed to the performing arts, especially music and theatre from an early age, as he sang in the Chorus, and preformed as main roles in many of his schools musicals. His early musical influences were musicians such as [Evanescence], [Night Wish], and [Third Eye Blind], as well as countless other movie soundtracks, especially [Ron Zimmer]. Ianuzi attended Fabius-Pompey High school in Fabius, New York. During his school years, he began movie acting, editing, and producing first for small student productions. He started to perform as early as 8th grade in Fabius’ production of The Music Man. He then quit that all together and moved on to other things. He later exploded back onto the acting scene with his brilliant role as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz. After that he was Kenickie in the schools production of Grease. For all four years of his schooling he ran track, and cross country and was one of the team’s fastest runners. He is quoted as saying, "There are only 7 sins, and after that, it's all good!" [edit] CareerIanuzi has produced a number of movies including “The Annoying Gypsy”, “Of Violence”, just to name a few. His newest movie “Guitar Hero”, is the story of a young man who is a guitar prodigy, and is entitled to save the planet. He is chased and eventually captured by the villains who try to kill him. While in captivity he meets his hero and mentor: murdered. He then vows revenge against these villains. Ianuzi believes that this new movie could be his “big break” and hopes that it will fair well when it is released on a small scale later this year. [edit] Triangle Youth Brass Band
The Triangle Youth Brass Band maintains a strict instrumentation based on the British brass band tradition. B-flat and E-flat cornets, E-flat tenor horns, and B-flat baritones are used in addition to trombone, bass trombone, tuba, and percussion. In addition to contemporary pieces written for brass band, the group’s repertoire includes orchestral and band transcriptions, and students also perform chamber music in small quartets or quintets. For both ensembles, membership is by recommendation and audition, and the season lasts from November to May each year. Both bands perform at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts’ Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh. The TYBB program also sponsors clinics and masterclasses with guest artists and conductors and hosts Brassmas, a December event in which middle- and high-school students from all over the Triangle area perform an outdoor concert of holiday music. In its first season, TYBB gave only one performance, but the program grew swiftly; Matt Edwards, Stephen Lytle, John Enloe, and Randy Guptill conducted that year. Guptill took over as director for the 1998-1999 school year and served until its current director, Tony Granados, came aboard in January 2001. This year, the program has expanded with the formation of an additional band, the Triangle Youth Brass Ensemble. Although this ensemble does not adhere to the TYBB’s strict British instrumentation, the slightly larger TYBE is patterned after the British style. Repertoire is challenging yet appropriate to the skill level of these young musicians. This additional ensemble provides more students with the opportunity to develop their skills as musicians in a youth brass band program that has become the premiere organization of its kind in North America As the program has flourished, so has its reputation. The Triangle Youth Brass Band often travels and performs outside the Triangle area of North Carolina. Recent tours have taken the band to the North American Brass Band AssociationChampionships, where the band earned First Place Honors in the Youth Division in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2006. The TYBB were featured performers at the Great American Brass Band Festival in 2003, visited Atlanta to perform with the Georgia Brass Band in 2005, and performed for the City of Greensboro’s Independence Day fireworks celebration in 2006. A cornerstone of the TYBB program is its commitment to bringing first-rate musicians from all over the world to the Triangle. Guest soloists and clinicians have included Keith Wilkinson (Brass Band of the Western Reserve), Terry Everson (Professor of Trumpet, Boston University), Michael Kris (Professor of Low Brass, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Mark Clodfelter (Professor of Trumpet, University of Kentucky), Ray Farr (conductor/composer), James E. Jackson III (euphonium, U.S. Coast Guard Band), Jens Lindemann (Professor of Trumpet, UCLA and former trumpet, Canadian Brass), Steve Sykes (tuba soloist, conductor, and adjudicator), Chris Martin (Principal Trumpet, Chicago Symphony), Colin Williams (Principal Trombone, Atlanta Symphony), Demondrae Thurman (Professor of Euphonium, University of Alabama and Sotto Voce Quartet), Tom Bratten (U.S. Army Band), and Vince DiMartino (Professor of Trumpet, Centre College, Danville, Kentucky). [edit] Gerónimo Lluberas
Born on January 7, 1956, Dr. Lluberas headed multiple humanitarian relief efforts to Belle Anse, Haiti, helping treat over 10,000 Haitians. "Dr. Gerry", or Gero (pronounced HEH-roh), as he liked to be called, also was a music composer. His Christian musical, Butterflies in the Rain Forest was recently produced into a 21-track CD with the colaboration of his close friend Christopher Crommett, Grammy Award winner and Woody Herman Band alumnus Gary Anderson and others, the proceeds of which benefit the Health & Education Relief Organization (HERO) which continues his work in Belle Anse. The recording of Butterflies in the Forest brought together a wide range of artists and collaborators of Dr. Lluberas, most of which donated their talent. Anderson arranged and orchestrated Lluberas' musical. Forrest Buchtel, lead trumpet and featured soloist for Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Blood Sweat and Tears, and Malo, Lluberas' daughter Cristina, bassist Claudio Alvarez, Luis Reyes, an accomplished "güiro" (typical gourd-based Puerto Rican musical instrument) player, University of Tampa music professor J.J. Hobbs, 3 Mo' Tenors performer Victor Robertson, Michael Fauss and others had a hand in performing and recording the musical. He also collaborated with Christian compositions posthumously recorded by the Camino de Fe organization at Lluberas' home parish, Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia. Dr. Lluberas, a Puerto Rican rheumatologist, died of cancer on May 7, 2003. At his request, two songs from his musical, Lord, I Surrender to You, and On My Knees, were sung at his funeral. [edit] Brown Americans
Brown Americans These people include those from West Asia such as those from India, as well as the Middle Eastern people. By far the most populous Brown Americans are the Latinos. This include Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Columbians, etc. Some confuse these as White Americans, which is false. The Latinos are people of so many mixed races that they have their own physical features that distiguish them from races such as Caucasions and Africans. [edit] KNCN (FM) Radio Station
KNCN is an FM station licensed to Sinton, Texas playing to the Corpus Christi metro area. It signed on in 1976 from a combined studio and tower site north of the bay north of Corpus Christi and east of Sinton, Texas. Facilities were the same as now a 100,000 watt signal from a 410 foot above average terrain antenna. The studio site had on air studios, a bathroom, and the transmitter room. The first main transmitter was a Collins 831-G1. The 101.3 frequency had been used previously by KTOD-FM and by KMIO. KNCN was known as C-101 and went on the air with a rock format. In later years, sales offices were established in the business center of CCT. They were once in the "600 Building" downtown, and later had their own building on Leopard street. Early on the station recieved permission from the FCC to identify as a Sinton-Taft station. A bit later they changed that to a Sinton-Corpus Christi identifier. The station was founded by local owners. It was sold to Tippie Communications (whose shareholders had been involved with KHFI-AM-FM-TV in Austin, with Rollins/Terminix, and by the eighties with KVLY-FM in Edinburg, TX and an FM in the Colorado Springs, CO area. The station was purchased by a company that has now been rolled up into Clear Channel Communications [edit] Sourceshttp://www.fccinfo.com/CMDProEngine.php?sCurrentService=FM&tabSearchType=Appl&sAppIDNumber=289973 (source replaced with direct link to relevant info) 76.184.37.159 05:15, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Do Anything Nice (D.A.N.)
Each individual has a unique opportunity to create - to interact - to develop a peaceful, kinder world. Through random acts of kindness Do Anything Nice (D.A.N) fosters community, promotes leadership, and incites inspiration with activities dedicated to the "little" things in life. Do Anything Nice creates acts of kindness which will multiply as each person experiences, shares, and becomes motivated through participation in local projects. D.A.N is to be established at educational institutions as a student led community enrichment organization. These local chapters of D.A.N engage community members as educators. Through the enrichment of community bonds, we seek to transfer necessary skills to participants in order to generate self-sufficiency and the sustainability of local projects. We serve as primary actors to provide local communities with the ability to assess and facilitate the fulfillment of their own needs. D.A.N utilizes a framework rooted in the spirit of localized development, while improving the connection between educational establishments and the communities which house them. [edit] KDS (Travel & Expense)
Mission KDS’s mission is to help corporations manage and reduce their Travel and Expense (‘T&E’) costs. Through KDS Corporate, their ’on-demand‘, end-to-end software solution, KDS enable business travelers to book their journeys and manage their expense claims online, whilst simultaneously allowing employers to enforce corporate travel policies. KDS market leadership is built upon the anticipation of customers’ needs for advanced web-based solutions that achieve cost reductions, enhanced employee security and improved corporate governance. Background KDS is an independent, privately owned company founded in Paris, France. The company’s founders saw a major opportunity to improve upon prevailing conditions in the corporate travel arena: 1. T&E is one of the greatest areas of controllable expenditure in most companies, and yet one of the least managed and optimized. 2. The complexity and rapid evolution of the travel industry value chain generates significant inefficiencies but also numerous cost saving opportunities for corporations. 3. No player had yet unleashed the full power of web-based technologies and an on-demand approach in the T&E space. 4. No company had yet delivered an end-to-end T&E solution that combined an intuitive online self-booking travel tool with an efficient travel and expense reporting system. KDS therefore set about developing a revolutionary T&E solution which over the past decade has helped transform the travel management landscape, been adopted by blue chip organisations around the world, and become recognized as an industry leading technology. KDS Today KDS Corporate is today used thousands of enterprises around the world, with implementations in over 30 countries. They serve customers of all sizes, from major multinational corporations with highly complex requirements through to SME businesses needing ‘off the shelf’, easy implemented solutions. The scalability of KDS Corporate can cater for hundreds or thousands of employees, and from tens to tens of thousands of T&E transactions per month. The KDS solution has been expressly designed to minimize operating costs and maximize convenience for customers. Its web-based, on-demand technology eliminates the need for expensive hardware investments and ensures that implementations and system upgrades are managed smoothly, efficiently and without interrupting the flow of the customer’s business. KDS is an independent company. KDS takes no commission from travel providers, it has no conflicts of interest and is able to focus exclusively on reducing the T&E costs of its customers. In addition to the corporate customers, KDS serves many travel management companies and intermediaries, providing the ‘white label’ technology that underpins their own online booking portals. KDS is the clear market leader in Europe and is undergoing rapid growth in the United States. Headquartered in Paris, They have further offices in San Francisco, London, Frankfurt and Stockholm. KDS is backed by Accel Partners and Atlas Ventures. [edit] Jersey City Museum
[edit] MissionThe mission of the Jersey City Museum is to present, collect, and interpret American visual art and material culture of the highest quality. The museum places particular emphasis on exhibiting and supporting the work of contemporary artists who represent the diversity of our society, and on preserving and making accessible the art and the historical and industrial objects of significance to the region in its collections. Through its exhibition, educational initiatives, and public programs, the museum serves as a center of cultural life for the people of Jersey City, Hudson County and the region. [edit] HistoryThe history of the Jersey City Museum begins in 1901 when the stately new Jersey City Public Library, designed by architects Brite and Bacon, opened in downtown Jersey City with a series of sky-lit galleries on its fourth floor to house a museum. Funded by the City of Jersey City throughout the first half of the century, the Library director initially served as museum director and was assisted by volunteers for the museum's operations. A center of events, Jersey City Museum was visited by thousands of citizens who viewed exhibitions of art and collections of artifacts and participated in an assortment of classes. In 1931, local benefactors established the museum Association with goals "…to acquaint all the people of the community with matters of the past and present . . . to emphasize the values of all cultures and to show the people what they can learn from each other." These goals endure today. Despite being an important repository of art and regional artifacts, as well as a center of community events, Jersey City Museum was largely dormant in the 1950's. With its future in doubt and financial support to the library dwindling, the museum's Permanent Collection was stored and its activities were curtailed. In the mid 1970's, the community - including students from Jersey City State College, local artists, educators and neighbors - initiated efforts to rescue the collection and revive the museum. In 1987, in its first move toward independence, and with strong community and municipal support, Jersey City Museum separated fiscally from the Library.
In the early 1990's, moving Jersey City Museum from its remote location became a top priority. A search began for a suitable location that would provide a climate-controlled environment, the ability to set different hours (free from the library schedule), ADA accessibility and a street presence. In 1993, the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency donated an ideal building to Jersey City Museum in the Van Vorst Historic District at 350 Montgomery Street (circa 1929). Located only two blocks from the Library location, the space was donated for the purpose of renovation, modernization, and museum relocation. Over the next several years, extensive work was done at the Montgomery Street location. Contracts were drawn, studies were conducted, an architectural team was hired, architectural drawings were developed, approvals and permits were secured, budgets were developed and initial public funding was secured. The new $11 million facility was completed in December 2000 and officially opened its doors to the public on October 19, 2001. [edit] Sourceswww.jerseycitymuseum.org

Molecular Formula: C6H12O6 Molecular Weight: 180.16 Melting Point: 348.5-350°C Appearance: White Crystalline Solid Scyllitol is a naturally occurring plant sugar alcohol found most abundantly in the coconut palm. JoAnne McLaurin, Peter St. George-Hyslop, and colleagues at the University of Toronto have found scyllo-inositol (also called "scyllitol") when fed to transgenic mice that exhibit a memory disease very similar to human Alzheimer's Disease, can block the accumulation of soluble amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques in the brain. The research team found that scyllitol reversed memory deficits in the mice, reduce the amount of Aβ plaque in the brains of the mice, and reversed other symptoms associated with the presence of Aβ in the brain. [edit] Sources[The following are excerpts from the the references.] "13 June 2006. The news this week brings four papers describing different approaches to prevent or treat neurodegeneration. From an inhibitor of aggregation and a DNA vaccine targeted at amyloid-β (Aβ), to a kinase inhibitor for tau and a kinase target in Parkinson disease, there’s plenty to read and heed in these reports. In the first, JoAnne McLaurin, Peter St. George-Hyslop, and colleagues at the University of Toronto show that certain orally delivered cyclohexanehexol (aka inositol) stereoisomers can block the accumulation of soluble Aβ oligomers in the brain of transgenic mice. The compounds reverse memory deficits (as measured by performance in the Morris water maze), reduce plaque load, and reverse other signs of Aβ pathology. The results strengthen the case that high-molecular-weight oligomers of Aβ (like Aβ*, see ARF related news story) play a major role in producing memory deficits in mice, and pave the way for the testing of these inositols to prevent or reverse Alzheimer disease in people. A phase I trial of their most effective compound, scyllo-inositol, has just been launched under the name AZD-103." http://www.alzforum.org/new/detail.asp?id=1414 Cyclohexanehexol inhibitors of Abeta aggregation prevent and reverse Alzheimer phenotype in a mouse model. "When given orally to a transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer disease, cyclohexanehexol stereoisomers inhibit aggregation of amyloid beta peptide (Abeta) into high-molecular-weight oligomers in the brain and ameliorate several Alzheimer disease-like phenotypes in these mice, including impaired cognition, altered synaptic physiology, cerebral Abeta pathology and accelerated mortality. These therapeutic effects, which occur regardless of whether the compounds are given before or well after the onset of the Alzheimer disease-like phenotype, support the idea that the accumulation of Abeta oligomers has a central role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16767098 Dr. Duke's Phytochemical and Ethnobotanical Databases SCYLLITOL Plant species with highest amount Cocos nucifera L. -- Coconut, Coconut Palm, Cocotero (Sp.), Copra, Kokospalme (Ger.), Nariyal; 3,200 ppm in Leaf; 500 ppm in Endosperm; Annona muricata L. -- Soursop; in Plant; Arecastrum romanzoffianum (CHAM.) [edit] Papa Joe Smiddy

If you want to make changes and try again, copy and paste your article into a new submission and make your changes there. The story of UVa-Wise, founded in 1954 as Clinch Valley College, mirrors that of Papa Joe Smiddy. As the College came from humble roots, so did Papa Joe. Born in Jellico, Tennessee in 1920, young Joe grew up the son of a miner/merchant and a housewife. His father moved the family into town so the eight children could study music. Be it the organ and piano for his older sisters or the mandolin for his brother, the Smiddy children all played. By age five, Joe played guitar, and by age eight, trumpet. They also all listened...to their father’s “fun” songs and banjo playing, to their mother’s Bible verses and preaching, and to the radio. “Uncle Dave Macon” was a regular visitor from Cincinnati, via an Atwater-Kent radio, and the Grand Ole Opry from Nashville filled the Smiddy living room on Saturday nights. By high school, Joe played trumpet in dance bands, a talent that kept him engaged through his days at Lincoln Memorial University and landed him a spot in Army bands during World War II. When Joe volunteered for overseas duty, he had visions of meeting his brother (who was serving in Europe) in Paris. Instead, Sergeant Smiddy found himself on New Caledonia Island in the South Pacific, and at war’s end, in the Philippines. Joe shared his love of music and learning with students at Jonesville High School after the war, where he quickly became principal. Sam Crockett lured him to the fledgling Clinch Valley Branch of The University of Virginia in 1953. He began as a biology instructor, but within three years was named “Director.” The College struggled, but grew. In its early years, it offered two-year degrees and an opportunity for good students to continue at a four-year school. It offered higher education where there had once been none. It offered hope. Papa Joe saw to it personally that any student with promise, regardless of his or her financial situation or skin color, was given a chance. Women were admitted from the first day, and black students were admitted while segregation was still the law in Virginia. Papa guided the school through the turbulent 60’s, a time when the folk music of Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Judy Collins echoed through campus, and when students asked Papa Joe to play along with them in their dormitories. It was also in the 1960’s that Papa Joe’s children, Joe Frank and Elizabeth, took to music and the family started playing together. They were frequent visitors to the Galax Fiddlers Convention, and by 1974 had formed The Reedy Creek Band, named after the tributary that flows through Joe Frank’s adopted home of Kingsport, Tennessee. Musical ability must be a genetic trait in the Smiddy clan - - the children of Joe Frank and Elizabeth have talents ranging from trumpet and trombone to acting and singing. Papa Joe retired as Chancellor in 1985, but he is as active, vivacious, and funny as ever. At age 81, he is just as likely to champion a cause in front of the local Board of Supervisors, to raise money for needy children along with his beloved Kiwanis Club, or to preach a sermon at a local church, as he was thirty years ago. And then, of course, there’s his music...heard at the Dock Boggs Festival and the Virginia-Kentucky Opry, at the Carter Fold and The Museum of Appalachia, at conventions and gatherings across the mountains, and in hospitals and nursing homes bringing “joy, joy, joy” to the sick and weary. Here is presented a tribute to Papa Joe Smiddy and his love of music, learning, and his College. Papa Joe wanted this album to be “fun.” That’s just what it is - - it makes you smile, like Papa himself does. It tells stories, just as Papa does. And it makes you think about the depth of character, and the range of talents, that embody this perfect Virginia gentleman. [edit] Fake Herald
The Fake Herald Was created by a few kids in 8th grade. The articles are just stupid stuff that have nothing to do with anything. For example there is an article about how cannabalism is good. It started one of the most famous quotes among kids, You can't spell Slaughter without laughter. The writers of this Newspaper include Sterling Lieder, Alex Hemmersbach, And Bill Ageton. Bill Ageton had the idea of making it so he Made Alex Hemmersbach his number 2 in command and Sterling The co-writer. Between the three of them they have come up with over 100 Fake Herald articles. Who says .mobi isn't useful? Today while searching through .mobi websites on my cellphone I came across areacodefinder.mobi. I was looking for a good "area code finder" tool and I came across this one. It allows you to put in an areacode or a zipcode and it will tell you the cities they are located in. I found myself using this alot because of calls I get from random people. This reassures me that Mobi is beginning to take off because of this quality content. [edit] Juan Carlos Quintero-Herencia
Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1963. Member and co-editor of the Poetry journal Filo de juego (1982-1987) the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña published, in 2002, his early poetry under a volume entitled El hilo para el marisco/Cuaderno de los envíos (2002). This volume received the Puerto Rican Pen Club Poetry Prize in 2004. Quintero Herencia has published other collections of poetry such as La caja negra (1996, Isla Negra) and Libro del sigiloso (2007, Terranova). Quintero Herencia poetry displays an intense desire for experimentation and baroque imagery. In Quintero's recent poetry a concern for the specific nature of the political gesture of poetry is a recurrent topic. As an essayist Quintero-Herencia published Fulguración del espacio: Letras e imaginario institucional de la Revolución cubana (1960-1971) (Beatriz Viterbo, 2002), a contextual and critical reading of the crucial debates which defined the Cuban intellectual field during the 1960’s. His second book, La máquina de la salsa: Tránsitos del sabor (Ediciones Vértigo, 2005) is a comprehensive critical balance on the Salsa phenomenon. As a Professor, Quintero-Herencia teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Latin American and Caribbean literatures and cultures at the University of Maryland, College Park (USA). He also teaches Literary Theory. Before going to the University of Maryland, he taught at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras and Brown University.
