Is one of the best Director of Photography (D.O.P) in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa. Worked as a Director of Photography for documentary films since 1980. A Director of Photography at the National Cinema Center since 1983.

Early years:

His second uncle Kamel El-Telmissany was one of the best directors in Egypt.

Education: After graduating from Al-Alson faculty for languages and translation in 1973 El-Telmissany received a scholarship to study Russian culture and language in the Soviet Union. At the time he had also been accepted by the National Film School in London. He was told by his father: "If you want to learn the art go to Moscow, if you want to be a professional camera operator go to London. And then you can always continue your training with me."

He got Licentiate in Russian language from Faculty of Alson 1973. Master Degree in Cinema Photography - VGIK Moscow (1981). (Excellent grades)

Look through the lens as if it is the last time you see her body; light it as if it is the only way you can embrace her." That's what they told Tareq El-Telmissani in film school, he says.

[edit] Europe Central

Composed of a series of intertwined stories, Europe Central examines a vast array of characters, ranging from generals to martyrs, officers to poets, traitors to artists and musicians. Some are famous, like the post Anna Achmatova and the Russian Composer Dmitri Shostakovich, are infamous or unknown, like the renegade Russian General Vlasov or Kurt Gerstein, a young German who joins the SS to reveal its darkest secrets and try to halt its crimes.

Described by The New York Times Book Review as William T. Vollmann's "most welcoming work, possibly his best book… part novel and part stories, virtuoso historical remembrance and focused study of violence”, Europe Central deals with the moral decisions made by people in the most testing of times and offers a bold perspective on human actions during wartime.

[edit] Janor Hypercleets

(real name unknown) is one of early and more notable members of The Church of the Subgenius. His hell-fire hate rants made him controversial for some, but popular with others. It was not uncommon for him to threaten suicide during live performances, pulling out a revolver from a brown paper bag and placing it to his head. (This stunt was later repeated in real life by a disgraced Pennsylvanian politician who committed suicide at a press conference.) Hypercleets could be frequently heard on the Subgenius radio show, and he authored a story in the Subgenius book, Three Fisted Tales Of Bob.
