Clarence Wiseman was general of the Salvation army between 1974 - 1977. He was born June 19th 1907, retired on June 19th 1977 and passed away on May 4th 1985. He was the husband of a Canadian woman, Captain Janet Kelly, and the author of "A Burning in my Bones” and “The Desert Road to Glory”. He became an officer in Guelph Corps, Canada in 1927. Clarence not only served in Canada, but he was also engaged as Chaplain with the Canadian forces overseas, and with the Salvation Army in Africa.

[edit] Punjab Medical College

The emergence of two medical colleges i.e. Punjab Medical College and Rawalpindi Medical College simultaneously at the campus of University of Agriculture Faisalabad in 1973-74 was a historical event, by any stretch of imagination, in the annals of medical education. It sent a wave of happiness in the province. But with the unrestricted support and co-operation of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, which accommodated both the medical colleges on its campus squeezing its own departmental facilities at considerable inconvenience, the growth of the two medical colleges would have been retarded and not reached the stage of development where they stand today. RMC was shifted to Rawalpindi on 5th November 1974.

With a grant from the government, the structure of new buildings was completed in 1982 enabling the college to shift to its new premises spread over an area of about 158 acres. The construction of buildings and furnishing of laboratories, teaching hospital etc., continued at a fair pace and by the end of the year a sum of 460 millions had been invested on the college. It is heartening that now the college has all the facilities and infrastructure, which a modern institution can aspire in a developing country.

The first batch of graduates with M.B.B.S degrees passed out in 1978 and as on today more than 3000 graduate doctors has been produced to meet the need of the community. They are all making their mark in the social milieu.

Complements are over-due to the first 4 principals, Dr. M.H.Toosi, Dr. Fateh Muhammad Ch., M Anees Mahju, and Muhammad Zafar Ch. who worked day and out during the early formative years and overcame myriads of problems inherent in the establishment of a new medical college. Their hard work facilitated the work of their successors.

Althought to nonsmokers, generally all cigarette smoke is more or less the same, the subtle differences in the shape, size, and taste of individual cigarettes, generate customer loyalty. Perhaps more than the idiosyncracies of the cigarette itself, a cigarette brand's marketing lures a customer to pledge loyalty to a particular brand. Often, a strain of cigarettes develops a mass cultural, socioeconomical, or religious following, thus generating cigarette brand stereotypes:

  • Marlboro - A recent case study (2002) by research analysts of the tobacco industry has concluded that Marlboro is currently the top selling cigarette brand for caucasian smokers.
  • Newport - The brand's stereotype amongst African-American smokers was mocked in Chappelle's Show Season 2 skit I Know Black People.
  • Parliment - popular among smokers in their 20s in the United States and Russia.
  • Natural American Spirit - According to Dr. Jordan Gusky of St. John's College of Annapolis, the American Spirit cigarette is intimately linked with the American Hippie subculture.

Yakov Gamarnik was condemned for Trotskyist conspiracy after the Case of Trotskyist Anti-Soviet Military Organization in 1937; however, shortly before the trial he had actually been called upon by the Soviet government to be one of the judges for the accused. He inisisted on Tukhachesky's (a prominent figure in the trial) innocence and later killed himself before he could be punished for his actions. Only after this was he added to the list of conspirators.

Gregory Kenneth Pietsch (born August 3, 1968 in Summit, New Jersey) is an American computer programmer. His main programming language is C, but he has programmed in BASIC, C++, and COBOL in his professional career. He also occasionally answers newbie questions on the comp.lang.c Usenet newsgroup, sometimes as the "comp.lang.c Oracle" (a tribute to the rec.humor.oracle newsgroup) and posts on other newsgroups such as misc.transport.road. One of his m.t.r posts is referenced in the Interstate 76 (east) Wikipedia article.

Among the programs he has written are some that Gregory has either put into the public domain or has released under the GNU General Public License. Many of the answers on the site http://www.clc-wiki.net are his (he has sysop access to that wiki site). He has also contributed a version of Edlin to the FreeDOS project and has contributed a version of getopt to the newlib library, among other code.

Matt Hammett is the pastor of Flood, a San Diego church that began in 2000. He graduated from Bethel Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. Inspired by the Old Testament verse Joel 2:28, "I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions" (NIV), Flood was created with the desire that congregants would be flooded with the Spirit that God has promised to pour out on all his people. The church's band, Something Like Silas, incorporates a variety of musical genres into their songs to provide a musically and lyrically mature platform for worship. Meeting at College Avenue Baptist Church, Flood has grown from 300 worshipers on its first night to 2000 on a typical Sunday. Small groups such as "community groups," "growth groups," and "interest groups" have been set up to facilitate spiritual maturing and fellowship within the church body. Matt's passion for assisting Africa is evident through the church's commitment to missions in Malawi and the support of organizations such as Children of the Nations and Invisible Children.

Rigid Seagull is a cult website created by two anonymous founders who use the pseudonyms Cody Toastergeist and Ghosthands. The website is a humerous centre for people with interests in extreme sports such as Skydiving and Bungee jumping as well as motorbikes to chat and swap pictures/stories, as well as containing funny anecdotes and games to play.

The website contains gallerys that people are encouraged to contribute to.

Contrary to popular belief, the creators apparently DID NOT cook a seagull like the site might suggest.

There is a map on which fans can post their location and a short greeting, and the site plans to open its shop shortly, a preview of which is available.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and several other sources(1), the annual walleye run up the Maumee River in Maumee, Ohio is one of the largest migrations of riverbound walleyes East of the Mississippi. The migration of the walleye normally starts in early March and runs through the end of April. Although the first week of april is "historically" the peak of the migration, Mother Nature normally dictates when the actual peak takes place. When river flows rise due to snow melt-off and the river water temperature reaches 40'F - 50'F, the resident population of walleyes welcome their relatives from the Western end of Lake Erie's waters and also from the Detroit River and Lake St. Claire in Michigan. The methods for catching these migrating spring walleye vary from angler to angler but the most popular choice in recent years has been the floating jig head tipped with a 3" Mr. Twister grub tail rigged on a Carolina leader. Color variations run the spectrum from black to hot pink for both jig head and twister tail. Normally black and brown colored baits are used when water clarity is good, and your brighter chartreuse/hot pink colors are used when clarity is poor. The second bait of choice and still the favorite for quite a few river veterans are lead head jigs tipped with the same type of baits. Normally lead head baits will get snagged more on the bottom of the river, but hooksets with lead heads tend to lead to more solid catches. Although you will see boats on the river during the spring migration, by far the most popular method of fishing for these walleye is by wading out into the river and casting. As stated, the water temperature this time of the year is approximately 40'F-50'F so it is of utmost importance to have a high-quality set of 3-5mm neoprene waders. Experience on the river also shows that bootfoot waders with 1000-1200 grams of Thinsulate are also going to outperform stocking foot waders. As with any outdoor activity, there are various rules and regulations that must be followed including daily bag limits and tackle restrictions. Not following these rules and regulations could have a profound effect on the fishing experience for generations to come. Kanto is a character created by Jack Kirby in Mr. Miracle (a comic books series created by Jack Kirby as part of his meta-series usually refered as the Fourht World). Kanto is a master assasin who works for Darkseid, ruler of Apokolips. When Mr. Miracle comes back to Apokolips, Kanto is one of the obstacles he faces. Kanto dresses in a quasi-Renaissance fashion, possibly to imply both royal court intrigue, and the artistic pride that he has in his assassin's work. It should be noted that of all the foes Mr. Miracle faced while Mr. Kirby worked on his books, Kanto shared a sort of professional respet with Mr. Miracle.

Nicholas Macpherson took over as Permanent Secretary to the Treasury on 2 August 2005. He succeeded Sir Gus O'Donnell on the latter's promotion to Cabinet Secretary. Prior to this, Nick was Managing Director of the Budget and Public Finance Directorate since 2004, when he oversaw the implementation of the review carried out by his predecessor as Permanent Secretary, Gus O'Donnell. This involved the strengthening of the Treasury's strategic tax policy function and forging relations with the new HM Revenue and Customs Department. From 2001 to 2004 Nick was head of the Public Services Directorate, where he managed the 2000 and 2002 spending review processes. Previous Treasury posts included Director of Welfare Reform (1998 to 2001) and Principal Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1993 to 1997) where he oversaw the transition from Kenneth Clarke to Gordon Brown. Nick joined the civil service in 1985 after spells working as an economist at the CBI and Peat Marwick Consulting. He is 46.

Convergence 12 has chosen the Hotel Monteleone as the official hotel. The hotel is a four diamond New Orleans landmark and we feel that there would be no better hotel to make the most of your New Orleans and Convergence experience. Despite the ravages of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans, the Hotel Monteleone is still operational, and just as beautiful as it ever was.
