NICE!! i like your texts about the Artificial Being! :D smaffy =o) 11:32 Apr 29, 2003 (UTC)
Thanks Smaffy. I appreciate it. I am totally new to this remarkable site, but I wanted to leap right in. So I spent hours reading FAQs and was pretty well burnt when I added what I did. Rereading what I wrote at 1am seems a bit garbled, so I will edit, add stuffs when I can, put in citations, and add links. Blows my mind...
Tell me something, how do you make this '|' mark using the keyboard. I have no idea where that little symbol resides so I've been cutting and pasting.
Also is this the correct way to respond to a message such as yours, by editing the page?
Finally, I am always glad to meet a fellow obsessive regarding AB (Artifical Being). 40 years and running I've been working on the issue and am, as far as my patent attorney can tell, the only person to have a patent application on a conscious machine. The only trouble is how can one ethically own a mind?
Peter
I had edited your Artificial Being page. Consider it a scaffold from which to work.
Some notes:
1) the wiki is an encylopedia. articles should include a clear definition in the first sentence! follow that up with some history and a detailed description, as appropriate.
2) don't capitalize names of articles, unless it's a proper noun (someone's name for instance). You should use the Move this page function to move it to "artificial being" (note the caps).
3) there's a meta-wiki for longer discussions like what you were doing in the original article. the pages here should be "clinical", void of emotion. Yes, that might sound a little odd, but that's why they have the meta-wiki for just that purpose.
Anyway, enjoy!
Oh, the | is above the Enter key on US keyboards. It is typically shown as two short vertical lines, for historical reasons.
to make "|" i use AltGr+"<", but that is on a swedish keyboard :| a patent application on a countious machine?! whoooaa.. how do you know it is aware of itself? how is it built? where can i find more about it? and.. i dont agree with the girl/guy above (who is s/he?), just write what you want!! it is a FREE wikipedia (not an encyclopedia its a wikipedia! wicked! :) smaffy =o) 23:14 Apr 30, 2003 (UTC)
> Are the 'meta' sites the talk areas for the different subjects?
No, it's more like a parallel wikipedia, and entire site similar in structure to this one (with similar articles), but more for literary comment. But the thing is, I can't remember the name of it... there's the wikitionary and wikitere, hmmm...
Oh, and the general concensus is to reply in the other's users page like you did, because that your you get the "new mail" at the top of the screen. Of course to make this easy you should put a link, which I failed to do last time... [[User:Maury Markowitzm]
ooh.. you seems to know a lot of stuff about how intelligence works and how it could be created. thanks for explaining how the oddly working self-aware mashine worked :) i did not fully understand what exactly those genetic algoritms did, but i think i understood the very basic of it atleast... they were improving eachother around: algorithm A improved B that improved C that improved A? nice thoughts anyway :) have you earned anything (except from the "spiritual") from your reasearch? whatever.. i think i will watch your future articles with a great deal of intrest :D
