[edit] Galleries

A tag has been placed on Breadbox ARI requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Tikiwont 08:23, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

The notability criteria may seem strict, but the idea is indeed to not simply have a directory of anything (art gallery, painter, etc) that ever existed. Basically, we do not want to duplicate listings or database such as Artabase. For having an own entry, a gallery should have been written about in reliable sources. Whether this holds true for the galleries you have in mind, I cannot say, but if not, it would rather be a reason for examining their articles more closely instead of adding similar ones. Moreover, I didn't assume that you are here to spam nor was that the reason for deletion. However, given your username and page, please have anyway a look at our conflict of interest and user page guidelines. If you like Australian art there is certainly a lot that you could contribute, so I have posted you above some links as welcome.--Tikiwont 11:36, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External linking

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I've noticed you're adding artabase links to many articles.
