Talk:Artist residency

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi

The references are not notable for a global encyclopedia. They're all in the USA and 3 are in Texas, which is not a world centre for art. Of the links listed:

ArtPace in SanAntonio, TX - No wikipedia entry for the institution The Core Program in Houston, TX - One paragraph wikipedia entry for the institution The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, TX - No wikipedia entry for the institution Skowhegan in Skowhegan, ME - Wikipedia entry marked as an advertisement

These are not notable programmes, and so I have deleted them. Feel free to replace these links with world notable programmes. StopItTidyUp 20:35, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

The list just needed to be expanded, not deleted. Tag it for not having a global perspective if you have a problem with it. These are all well known, respected programs, and I wish I had time to document press coverage, but I don't. Not having a wikipedia entry doesn't mean something doesn't meet notability requirements. Art entries on wikipedia in general are VERY sparse anyway. And residencies are mostly non-profit programs offering great resources to artists. I listed the reputable programs that I know living in Texas and being an art professional, hoping that others would list good residencies they know and it would become a really nice resource for artists. [edit] Merge articles

Due to almost total subject overlap, artist in residence should be merged with artist residency. — AjaxSmack 14:10, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
