A lot of references say Burns was Austrian, but this is not true. He was born in a town in Galicia, which is a region encompassing the Polish-Ukranian border (the town is now part of Ukraine). Galicia was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire at the time, but that doesn't make him Austrian. His ethnicity was Jewish and his nationality, for all but the first ten years of his life, was American. -- Chowbok 05:37, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

What kind of referencas can it be? Of course he was Jewish.
