Category:Articles containing how-to sections

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category contains articles tagged with {{howto}} that contain how-to sections which may need to be edited to comply to the official policy Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, or textbook point 1, quoted here:

  1. Instruction manuals. While Wikipedia has descriptions of people, places, and things, Wikipedia articles should not include instructions, advice (legal, medical, or otherwise) or suggestions, or contain "how-to"s. This includes tutorials, walk-throughs, instruction manuals, video game guides, and recipes. Note the how-to restriction does not apply to the Wikipedia: namespace, where "how-to"s relevant to editing Wikipedia itself are appropriate, such as Wikipedia:How to draw a diagram with Dia. If you're interested in a how-to style manual, you may want to look at our sister project Wikibooks.

[edit] Editing help needed

There is currently no consensus as to how the how-to articles should be edited. To-do lists may be replaced with great prose, or more simply, introduced in a way that reduces their how-to nature.

Please discuss the issue on the talk pages, so that good guidelines for editing can be established.
