Arthur Harold Stone

Arthur Harold Stone (born September 30, 1916 in London, died August 6, 2000) was a British mathematician, working mostly in topology. His wife was American mathematician Dorothy Maharam. His first paper dealt with squaring the square. He proved the Erdős-Stone theorem with Paul Erdős. The Stone's metrization theorem has been named after him. Not to be confused with American mathematician Marshall Harvey Stone.
