Arthur Carl "Ace" Enders (born April 19th, 1982 in Hammonton, New Jersey) is the former lead singer and guitarist of the defunct band The Early November. He was also the lead musician, songwriter and co-producer in his side projects, I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business, Ace Enders and A Million Different People. He is the owner of the independent record label "Regular Music". Enders married his long time girlfriend, Jenn Rock, in summer of 2006.
[edit] Critical reception
Enders has been critically acclaimed throughout his young career. He is admired for his song writing ability, as well as his artistic creativity. Ace has had a creative hand in all The Early November's work, writing and co-producing all EPs and LPs along with Chris Badami. In 2005 he plotted out The Early November's third full length album, "The Mother, Mechanic and the Path," a triple-disc effort with an entwining plot of a torn family, from the perspective of a growing child. The third disc, The Path, was met with a mix of strong praise and harsh criticisms as Enders decided to tie the 3-disc piece together with a story which included mostly dialogue-driven songs and some dialogue-only interludes.
[edit] Future and solo career
Enders recently announced in Alternative Press magazine that he plans on recording a solo album in the near future.[1] Enders has previous stated that "I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business" was a one-time-only moniker. Ace has started a new project Ace Enders and A Million Different People. For a moment, he was working on a band called Kings for Queens, but shortly after entering the studio he decided to pursue A Million Different People instead.
Enders has plans to continue running and developing his label, "Regular Music," with his wife and help from former band mate Jeff Kummer. Ace founded an organization called The Sound of Evolution. It is "devoted to exploring and experimenting with solutions for creating a symbiotic relationship between music and the modern world." It is trying to reconnect the link between artists, their music, and their fans.
In the summer of 2007, Enders took out a loan to build a studio in the basement of a shopping center. After three weeks of work, building finished and Pink Space Recording was created. After the studio was finished, Enders spent two straight days making demos that would later be named "From a Daze" and "Emergency."
Enders signed on with manager Lucas Keller to work on Ace Enders and A Million Different People. He is also confirmed for the full Angels & Airwaves US tour in early 2008, and has mentioned plans to release a record in the summer.
It has been recently stated that the Ace Enders and A Million Different People album is due out in August. Ace has also stated that he will be putting out an 8 track CD called The Secret Wars available for free download. He recorded them in his own studio and plans to release them in a week or two.
[edit] Trivia
Trivia sections are discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines. The article could be improved by integrating relevant items and removing inappropriate ones. |
- Ace began playing guitar after being inspired by watching his step dad play in a band. Left-handed, Enders taught himself how to play his step dad's old right-handed guitar.[2]
- Ace Enders also did the artwork for "The Mother, the Mechanic and the Path," drawing up a father in a mechanics uniform named Matt, a mother and a son named Dean, for the cover and booklet.
- The Path, which was written by Ace and Jeff Kummer, and co-produced by Ace, was turned down 7 times by Enders' label Drive-Thru Records for quality control, although they still were not totally satisfied with the results, before finally being approved. The project was delayed over a year due to the gigantic nature of a triple disc record, stress, Ace changing the concept of the story several times mid-record, and ultimately the lack of focus which led to a mid-recording nervous breakdown.
- Before conceptualizing "The Mother, the Mechanic, and the Path", Enders contemplated leaving the music business and possibly going into retail or construction.
- He pulled out of the 2008 Soundwave Festival, to participate in a tour with Angels and Airwaves.
- The musicians that play on the road with Ace Enders and a Million Different People currently are Andrew Adams (Bass), Will Gilreath (Guitar), Jason Howie (Drums), Robin Gazzara (Piano and Vocals), and Jen Enders. Will (NC) and Jason (NC) toured with Ace when he was in the Early November in a band called The Verdict from Charlotte, NC. Robin Gazzara (NJ) is Ace's sister, and previously fronted a band called One, Two, Three, Four. Andrew Adams (OH) is friends with Ace through his label, and previously played bass for Pete Nischt. Jen (NJ) is Ace's wife.
