Arthur Day Middle School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arthur Day Middle School is part of River East Transcona School Division in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was built in 1969 and named after Arthur Henry Day for the outstanding contribution he made to education in Manitoba. Day was chair of the Transcona-Springfield school board from 1952 to 1962, the year he passed on.

On April 6, 1970, the cornerstone of the new school was set down by Mrs. Day and the official opening of the school took place. Arthur Day was the first junior high in the division to have a theatre and the first to operate under the new middle years concept.
