Art and Dotty Todd

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Art and Dotty Todd were an American husband and wife singing duo. They had their own CBS radio programme in the 1950s and were later a regular attraction in Las Vegas, Nevada. They retired to Hawaii in 1980.

Art and Dotty Todd have the unusual distinction of being regarded as one hit wonders in both the United Kingdom and their native U.S., but with different songs: "Broken Wings" and "Chanson D'Amour (Song of Love)" respectively.

[edit] History

Art Todd, who sang "Chanson D'amour" with his wife, Dotty, died October 10, 2007 of congestive heart failure in Honolulu, where he lived. He was 93. Art met Dotty (born "Doris") when they were accidentally booked into the same hotel room while performing at the Biltmore Hotel in Baltimore. The two hit it off and were married in 1951. Though "Chanson D'amour" was their only U.S. chart hit single (#6-1958), the two parleyed it into a lifelong career, appearing on "Ed Sullivan" and becoming staples of the show lounges of Las Vegas. The couple settled in Hawaii, where they opened a supper club.

Dotty Todd died in 2000 at the age of 87.
