The Art Institutes International Minnesota is an art college located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota on the corner of Hennepin Ave. and 9th Street. AI Minnesota is part of many other Art Institute schools throughout the United States, with Art Institutes headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The school is convenient to entertainment, corporations, restaurants, and the light rail which travels from downtown Minneapolis to Mall of America. Unlike traditional 4-year colleges, students attend AIIM and other Art Institute Schools for 2-3 years. Instead of vacations, days off, and semesters as at traditional schools, AI Minnesota is based on 11-week quarter semesters. After each quarter semester, students have at least one to three weeks off; there are a total of 12 quarter semesters. These are named by seasons: Winter Quarter (January-March), Spring Quarter (April-June), Summer Quarter (July-September), and Fall Quarter (October-December).
