Arsenio Advincula

Arsenio J. Advincula is a martial arts instructor, born on January 25, 1938 in Juneau, Alaska.
In May 1997 the Marine Corps adopted Advincula's rifle & bayonet/knife and close combat system. He studied Isshin-ryu with the style's founder Tatsuo Shimabuku starting in December 1958. Arsenio Advincula was one of the co-founders of the United Isshin-ryū Karate Association in 1977.
He was a former coach for the San Diego Chargers, where he taught body mechanics based on his martial arts experiences to the team starting in 1987 and continuing on for 7 years. The San Diego Chargers went from a 4-12 record in 1986 to 8-7 in 1987.
Due to the California wildfires of October 2007, Advincula was forced to evacuate his residence on October 23, 2007.
