[edit] Mac articles

Hi! I noticed that you worked on some articles for Mac games, so I thought I'd tell you about the Mac and Computer and video games WikiProjects. Feel free to stop by for advice and help, or even to join. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 01:36, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

I joined today, my mac-nerdery now takes on a more organized form :D Arru 08:55, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Welcome aboard.--HereToHelp (talkcontribs) 02:19, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Castleroid

I'll start revising the article (w/justification) sometime this week. It will be something along the lines of: 1) redefine the term 2) focus on Castlevania games and 3) remove material to which the term cannot reasonably be applied. I think it will be easier to just change it and immediately defend said changes on the talk page. Making some sort of proposal will just result in people waffling about what to do.

It's nice to see that someone else is concerned about this sort of thing. Guermantes 04:00, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge Vote on Ultraviolet map

Hi I was thinking about taking this whole merge discussion in an entirely different direction. Instead of merging the info on the poorly named Ultraviolet map into the unfocused The DHARMA Initiative. How about we expand on Silentplanet's idea and create sub sections on known Hatches?

Remember the "The DHARMA Initiative" article is supposed to focus on what it is. Adding more information to "the Swan" only shows that this hatch should be expanded upon in another article. The title of this article after all is not "The DHARMA Hatches." To me it looks like we should put in some information about what exactly the DHARMA Initiative is. We should give some history on it maybe include the information on the film and then some brief information about the hatches and what they are. Hatches that we know more about like "The Swan" should have its own page that would then contain information such as "the Map", "The Timer", etc... I think that this is a more reasonable solution and would also make it a more logical solution as an encyclopedia article. Please let me know what you think (in your talk page)! And if you do agree please note that on your merge vote! Thanks -- UKPhoenix79 03:58, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Refactoring of The DHARMA Initiative

You mentioned a week ago that you would like to help mediate the heated discussions of merging certain Lost-related articles at Talk:The DHARMA Initiative#Merging/breakout consesus. Would you like the give your view on the state of the vote on

  1. Breaking out "The Swan (Lost)"
  2. and merging the controversial "Ultraviolet map" into it?

I've responded on Talk:The DHARMA Initiative. Stifle (talk) 16:55, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Hiya, I had a crack at DK on easy and intermediate, and there were no extra levels. Must be on the advanced difficulty. If I can get that far I'll see if I can take a couple of screenshots :) Clockwise music 04:21, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Crouch

Deserves some kind of mention re body popping

  • No, I don't think he necessarily does. My personal opinion on Peter Crouch: I think it's fun that he's taken on the "Robot" thing, however he truly sucks at it (there are skilled robot dancers out there). He is mentioned in the Robot dance article, and that's all he deserves on dance.
To quote Crouch himself: "It's not about robotic dancing. It is about scoring goals and winning matches. ...". Crouch is about soccer, not dancing. Arru 09:54, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dancer?

thanks a lot for contributing to the breakdancing references—setting my ignorance in place with the actual "it's like that" date of release. whew...i hope i don't do that again.

i did a whole lot of surgery on the article in the past few months and i'm really proud of the results. what do you think of it? also, if it's not too much of a nuisance, i was wondering if you could help me out with the media sub-section, which is the last portion in need of some serious work.

thanks again!

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dark Castle-icon.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Dark Castle-icon.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Image:DaveElsewhere-kollaboration.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DaveElsewhere-kollaboration.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 20:32, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Apache_Strike-icon.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Apache_Strike-icon.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 16:02, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hanso-web.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hanso-web.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 02:07, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination for Non-linear exploration

I got your message about the AfD nomination, but just FYI, the article I once had there was quickly maimed (on the basis of "no one else has researched this yet so you're not supposed to use Wikipedia to document existing phenomenon that no one else has documented yet") and edited into various strange forms, and is long gone anyway (the last I saw of it was that it was combined with the page for Metroidvania or Castleroid or something like that), and for that matter, it now redirects to linearity--in short, it's not really there anymore. So, thanks for the notification, but I don't really care anymore, and besides, I haven't really been active as a Wikipedia contributor for a while now (VERY busy with schoolwork).

In case you're still interested in that topic, here's what I've made of it on my own wiki: http://scripts.mit.edu/~derrict/bulbywiki/index.php?title=Castletroid
