Arrowcar

The Arrowcar was a specially designed arrow-shaped[1] automobile used by the DC Comics superhero Green Arrow[2] and his sidekick Speedy.

[edit] Design

The design and function of the Arrowcar was similar to that of Batman's Batmobile[3]. The Arrowcar[4][5] (inexplicably called 'the Arrow-Plane'[6][7] in the beginning[8]) was introduced during the time when Green Arrow comics mostly followed a similar formula as Batman (sans the depth and tragedy). However, it was in use for many years and there were several versions of it, all with various upgrades and re-designs.

[edit] Later usage

After Green Arrow/Oliver Queen lost his fortune[9], the car in return, became too expensive to keep. However, various wrecks of the cars became highly prized among collectors of super-memorabilia. For example, the Arrowcar was once destroyed during a fight between Green Arrow, Arsenal and Solomon Grundy[10]. When a fully functional Arrowcar went on the auction block for sale[11], criminal elements bought it and wanted to use it for their own purposes. For instance the criminal Scavenger claimed it for his weapon collection, but Batman bought it on Green Arrow's behalf. However, Green Arrow decided that he had no choice but to destroy it with a Grenade Arrow.
