Note: Though it states in the Guide to writing better articles that generally fictional articles should be written in present tense, all Tolkien legendarium-related articles that cover in-universe material must be written in past tense. I am quite surprised that there is no mention of the war against Angmmar an the WitchKing.... 80.188.250.58 Coconutter

[edit] Sources from ROTWK?

Alot of stuff from ROTWK, like the Cardoli army being wiped out, is not canocal and needs to be removed. Also where did 500,000 men left in Arnor come from? Halbarad could only gather 34 on short notice. None of this is canocal. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.124.49.158 (talk) 22:18, 21 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Fiction

The style guide on writing about fiction in Wikipedia recommends making it clear that an article is about a fictional subject, especially if the article content is largely "within-world". I hope no-one will object to me making the quick fix and adding the {In-universe} template. --Pstevens 18:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, the page seems to have become a tag-magnet since I put the In-universe tag in place. Just to say - this is a well-written, well-researched article, and I was glad to find it online when discussing LOTR with my son. I just wanted to flag somewhere that it is about fiction with a word better-known than legendarium, that's all. Congrats to the authors on the article. --Pstevens 16:51, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Since YLSS has removed the In-Universe tag, I'm trying another way to flag at the top of the article that this is about something fictional. I'm inserting the word 'fictional' in front of 'legendarium' (and also making 'legendarium' a link). --Pstevens 22:34, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Oops, I've removed the tag unintentionally; the article surely has to be rewritten. Reinstating. Súrendil 20:38, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Decline due to Gladden Fields?

The article currently states: "After the Disaster of the Gladden Fields, Arnor began its slow decline. In many ways, Arnor never truly recovered from this disastrous blow to its manpower: While the dawn of the Third Age heralded a new era of opportunity and expansion for Gondor, Arnor began it in a futile attempt to simply recover lost strength."

According to the separate article about the Disaster of the Gladden Fields, Isildur's forces numbered around 200 knights and soldiers and less than 20 archers. Surely this cannot be counted a "disastrous blow" to Arnor's manpower? --Hallonboat (talk) 12:37, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
