[edit] Concertmaster

The German-language article says he was concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic 1881-1931. I'm sure he was with the orchestra that long, but was he concertmaster from the outset? That would be unusual. - Jmabel | Talk 21:17, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes, it is correct (see my references: Grove Dictionary and also "Alma Rosé" by Richard Newman.) Incidentally, my father (not a musician) still recalls an evening with Arnold Rosé (around 1941) in which he related stories of his meetings with Brahms etc. A shame he never wrote an autobiography!
