[edit] Transfer
Monkam was set to join Norwegian team SK Brann in January 2006, but after receiving his labour permit, the Norwegian Football Association cancelled his transfer because of their new rules for buying players from other continents. (The new rules are a direct consequence of the scandal surrounding the transfer of the Nigerian footballer John Obi Mikel from F.C. Lyn Oslo to Manchester United). The new rules says that a player born outside of Europe have to been capped for his National football team or have played in a tournament equivalent to the European UEFA Champions League. Even though Monkam had been capped for the U-19 national team and played in the Cameroonian Premier League for many years, he didn't fulfill the requirement of the Norwegian Football Association.
The Football Association later turned, letting Monkam transfer to Brann, due to the fact that the deal was closed long before the new rules were made. Therefore, Arnaud Monkam joined SK Brann, in February 2006.
[edit] Career
Monkam debuted for Brann against Follese in the 1st round of the Norwegian Cup. He's played 3 Norwegian Cup games, 2 UEFA Cup games and 4 Royal League games for Brann. He got his Premiership debut on November 5, 2006, with seven minutes as a substitute. He was loaned out to Løv-Ham in March 2007, and before the 2008 season, he signed a permanent contract with Løv-Ham for the season.
