Description of schools was shocking, I have modified it. Please DISCONTINUE editing the North West location as this is CORRECT. DO NOT change it to North East again.--BigglesTheGreat 06:23, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
- It is North West, true. Which leads me to believe that whoever decides these things are geographically challenged, since anyone can see by looking at a map of the state that Armidale is physically located in the north east. But then again 'mid north coast' is not in the north, or middle, of anything either. (However it wasn't me who changed it to NE, I'm only saying...) Graham 07:27, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
I very much agree with you Graham, however, we must be official. I too would consider Broken Hill area North West, rather than us, but Broken Hill is usually considered it's own state! I mean, they have their own timezone and all that jazz!--BigglesTheGreat 02:22, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

- Armidale is east of the GDR, by about 15km... assuming you mean the watershed, which represents the geographical centre of the range. Graham 05:28, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps I should say the definition of "west" is anywhere in, on, or over the GDR, i.e. anywhere that isn't on the coastal strip. The point I mean to make is that the Great Dividing Range seems to be the rough point of division between east and west.
- Also regarding naming of the Mid North Coast, it is a coast, it is north of Sydney, and the middle section of this "north coast".
- I can only assume that someone in the surveyors' office was a fan of lateral thinking.

- Armidale, like New England generally, is never described as north-west. "Northern NSW" is the usual designation. "Northern tablelands" is also used. Anglicant

- Please add at least a sentence about Armidale Teachers' College/CAE - a long and glorious history before its recent lamented death. (The old building alone is worth a paragraph, tho alas no longer worth a visit). Also the Howard Hinton collection needs a mention - it really is first-class and no-one even knows it exists, just because it's in Armidale instead of Paddington. Bool isn't a 'country house', it's a homestead (there are no country houses in Australia, only in England). Add something abt cultural activities at the Uni? Writer-in-residence program? - I disagree with referring to Bool as a 'homestead', it's more a mansion, but I also disagree with the term 'country house'. In regards to "cultural activities," these haven't existed since the UNE Union became Services UNE Ltd which is incredibly unfortunate because I agree that it would've been a nice addition to the article.
