[edit] Tangents
I think this article goes into too much detail about the AR-18, which is a relatively minor firearm in the scope of things. If you feel like writing volumes on a specific weapon, post it on the relevant page for that weapon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.33.74.117 (talk) 00:50, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Various points about article
"Armalite" has also become a generic word for "assault rifle" or "machine gun."
Didn't Colt design and market the M4 Carbine? --ejail 01:25, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
7.62x39mm does NOT outrange 5.56x45mm. Not according to US Army field manuals, not according to FAS, not according to GlobalSecurity, and not Wiki's own entry on the weapons. Oh, and the Army had made no plans to use the M-14 as a squad automatic weapon. Why, M-14s have been getting back into army squads since 2004 or 2005. They are called squad MARKSMAN rifles.
Paragraphs 5 thru 9 are simple M16 bashing and have next to nothing to do with the history of Armalite. They would be more appropriate to the AR-15 or M16 articles but do not even belong there as they violate viewpoint neutrality.
- sign ftw. its 7.62x51 that outshoots the 5.56... the m14 uses the nato 7.62, and it never went out of service with the army -- Cannibalicious!

should be of an ar-15, IMO (though why i use that i dunno, seeing as my opinion is fact.) -- Cannibalicious!
[edit] Pop culture
In addition to the fact that this section is HORRIBLY written, I was surprised to see the no one cited Ed Norton's speech to his boss in Fight Club (film). RoyBatty42 01:09, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
i agree that this section is poorly done, and i suspect that it has been edited. if it has been edited, im sure that a reference to fight club was in there. i think that someone who knows more about this should edit it. i personally do not have a lot of pop culture referneces for the armalites
