Armoor or Armur is a town and a Mandal in Nizamabad district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.[1] It was recently upgraded to a municipality. Armoor is situated on NH-7 (Hyderabad-Nagpur) and NH-16 (Nizamabad-Jagdalpur). It is also known as Navanathapuram. The name is derived from nine hills which are present around it on which there is a saying that nine Rushis used to stay there. It is one of the major town in Nizamabad district. It is known for its agriculture. The village padagal in velpoor is recognised as a first village gaining 100% literacy throughout India.[citation needed]
