Armagnac-Ténarèze, one of the three terroirs (plantation areas) in the Armagnac region where grapes for the distillation of the Armagnac eau-de-vie can be cultivated. This area lies in between Bas-Armagnac and Haut-Armagnac it covers the north-west of the Gers and the south of the Lot-et-Garonne.
Together the three areas form in fact one region where Armagnac, Côtes de Gascogne and Floc de Gascogne can be produced and, because the three productions share the same AOC-limits.
It represents about 40% of the vineyards planted for distillation; the soil consists mainly out off limestone, sand and clay. One finds here the little village Castelnau-d’Auzan.
The distillate is in the general strong of taste and reaches at a later age its full flavour.
