Armageddon - Les Effets Speciaux
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Armageddon - Les Effects Speciaux is an attraction at Walt Disney Studios Park located at Disneyland Resort Paris. The attraction opened on March 16, 2002 with the Grand Opening of the park. The attraction is based on the 1998 film, Armageddon. The principle of the attraction is to demonstrate set effects, as in the film, within a full room using special effects.
[edit] Plot Summary
The basic concept of the attraction is that you are invited onto the set. After a few scenes from the movie, a new scene begins to unfold itself in the station, Mir, while people are visiting. The visitors enter into one of the two studios 7 (7-A or 7-B). After a presentation of the attraction's concept and a safety demonstration, the visitors enter on a reproduction of a plateau from the station, Mir, from the film. After loading, shooting can begin.
Several scenes succeed themselves: after a maneuver, a meteorite rain hits the station, the lights extinguish themselves while certain objects fly away and a part of the ceiling threatens itself to collapse. A fire develops and the station's 'anti-fire' system is set into motion. At that moment, the build-up of pressure in the pipes causes a part of the wall to be pulled out. While air is escaping from the station into space, a new explosion occurs, releasing bundles of sparks and balls of fire… The scene at last is finished. A voice calls "Cut!". The visitors are now able to exit the attraction.
The attraction lasts about 22 minutes with a capacity of about 170 persons.
