Armée des Pyrénées occidentales
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The armée des Pyrénées occidentales (Army of the Western Pyrenees) was one of the French Revolutionary armies. Formed by a decree of the National Convention on 30 April 1793 splitting the Armée des Pyrénées into two halves (the other was the armée des Pyrénées orientales), it served in the Basque and Navarre under the orders of (among others) generals D'Elbecq and de Moncey until the peace of 1795. Thomas Alexandre Davy de la Pailleterie Dumas, known as Général Dumas, was made its Commander in Chief in September 1793 but was never able to take up the post.
