Aridd, born May 6, 1982 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France, is a French teacher, self-styled nascent historian and social anthropologist, and Wikipedian. Aridd is extremely rare; there is only one of him, and he is deemed to be extinct in the wild.[1]

He moved to Bry-sur-Marne at the age of 3. In 2002, he successfully competed for a place at the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan. He obtained the Agrégation in English studies in 2005, specialising in British and Commonwealth histories and cultures. He obtained a Master's degree in that field at Paris Diderot University in 2006, on the topic of concepts of national identity in relation to Britishness in New Zealand. He is currently preparing a doctorate on the topic of national identity building in relation to notions of Britishness in the Commonwealth countries of postcolonial Oceania.

Aridd taught French for beginners at the University of Sydney in 2003 and 2004, then taught English at the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan, and French to English literary translation at the University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle in 2005 and 2006. He now teaches British history at the Paris Diderot University.

He is the author of a published research article entited "Les communautés d'Îliens du Pacifique en Nouvelle-Zélande : Intégration et identité culturelle"[2], on the integration and cultural identities of Pacific Islander communities in New Zealand. Two more articles -one on inter-ethnic relations in Fiji, the other a historical overview of government policies relating to immigration and ethnic minorities in Australia- are forthcoming.

Other than that, he hasn't really done much with his life. His brief attempt to embrace a career as a Jedi ended in tragedy when he was unfortunately killed.[3] He got better, though.

Aridd is an atheist, a vegetarian, and believer in Determinism. He is a critic of capitalism, but not an uncritical supporter of Marxism, although he adheres to many of the priorities and ideas of communist theory.

He has been a contributor to the English Wikipedia since 2005; he has started over 50 articles (including the article on Sino-Pacific relations) and contributed over 1,500 edits. He has also started over 150 articles in the French Wikipedia, and made over 1,300 edits to that encyclopedia. He has created article stubs and made other minor contributions in the Tok Pisin, Bislama, Haitian Creole, Scots, Welsh, Korean, Dutch and Swedish Wikipedias.

In Wikipedia, he is mainly known (or rather, unknown) for working on articles dealing with obscure topics that nobody is really interested in. He has achieved self-recognition as a novato.

He has both French and British citizenship. He spricht ein bisschen Deutch, aber not very well. 이 사용자는 한국어를 모르거나, 이해하는 데 어려움이 있습니다, although he's learnt the alphabet.

[edit] Idioms and sounds

When speaking in English, Aridd is known for peppering his speech with odd words, the meaning of which appears to be known only to himself. Among these, the most notable are snoot and wibble, although queeble is also recurrent. The word wibble appears to be something of a placeholder, whereas snoot is used both as a greeting and to express varied emotions. It is thought that queeble denotes, depending on context, sadness, disappointment and uncertainty. The term wibble is sometimes reduplicated, as follows: wibble wibble. In such cases, it is usually spoken while nodding sagely.[4]
